In your role as an engineer at Horizon Surgical Systems, you will design components and systems as part of a complete product subjected to FDA regulations.

Your design will be subject to safety and efficacy requirements.

The level of title will be determined case by case, based on the candidate's qualifications and years of experience : Junior / Staff / Principal engineer or higher.

Required Qualifications and Abilities :

• Educational Background : Master’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
• Technical Skills : Proficiency in Python, C / C++. Proficiency in working with Unix OS, including Bash scripting, and Inter-process communication (IPC).
• Experience : 2+ years of experience in software development. Proven ability to design and implement high-performance communication systems in resource-constrained environments.
• Knowledge : Deep understanding of real-time systems. Familiarity with software and system architecture formality like UML or SysML.

Proficiency with tools like Git / JIRA / Confluence and platforms like GitHub.

• Soft Skills : Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational abilities. Good communication skills to collaborate with interdisciplinary teams, including software engineers, hardware engineers, and product managers.
• Other Requirements : Comfortable working in a lab or workshop environment alongside surgical robotic systems.
• Responsibilities :
• Design, develop, and optimize communication protocols for computer vision / AI / robotic systems, at different levels.
• Architect scalable and resilient communication systems to cater to our evolving robotic solutions.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure tight integration between hardware, software, and communication modules.
• Engage in pair programming, code reviews, and design discussions to maintain high coding standards.
• Testing & Reliability : Design and implement comprehensive test suites for communication protocols, ensuring robustness and resilience.
• Research & Development : Stay updated with the latest trends in robotic communication and distributed systems. Propose and prototype innovative solutions and improvements to existing systems.
