Compensation : $80,000 - $105,000 / year
Description
The Business Analyst will work alongside the Data Team Manager for assigned projects. The key objective of the Business Analyst is to work closely with the business unit Subject Matter Experts (SME) to understand the data needs and goals of the project.
Using this information, the Business Analyst will gather and write requirements in either a Waterfall or Agile format, review with the business unit, gain approval, and submit to the individual who will be responsible for delivering the requirements.
Responsibilities And Duties
- Develop a deep understanding of the existing business processes and cross-department interactions.
- Work with business leads to understand and document the current state, and the challenges that exist within the operational infrastructure, including identification of business and technical gaps.
- Understand technical data topics such as views, data marts, Azure Data Factory, Power BI, etc. and translate them to non-technical business partners.
- Ability to synthesize information from multiple sources into informational documents and diagrams with purpose.
- Maintain process / system protocols by writing and updating procedures.
- Analyze and recommend process improvements to determine best practices and make recommendations to management on how to improve current practices and processes and solve issues related to the business unit.
- Elicit and document business requirements and visual models that communicate what must occur to realize future state.
- Act as primary point of contact for the project team during development to clarify business requirements, resolve issues, and make recommendations as needed where business impacts may arise.
- Write test cases and support the user acceptance testing.
- Maintain confidentiality of sensitive information.
Education And Experience
- Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience.
- 3 years related experience with emphasis in mortgage lending.
- 3 years related experience with data or data modeling, SQL preferred.
- Experience with loan origination systems highly desirable.
- 3 plus years of experience in supporting mission-critical business systems and applications.
- 3 plus years of experience in the financial services industry.
- Strong analytical, interpersonal, communication, problem-solving, research skills and self-motivator.
- Demonstrated ability to interpret and apply standard policies, procedures and other established guidelines.
- Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, and customers and interact and present to Senior Management.
- High level of proficiency with MS Office suite, especially MS Excel and Visio.
- Demonstrated critical thinking and problem-solving skills to recognize, evaluate, and brainstorm solutions to encountered issues.
