About the Team :

For the role you will work with a team of experienced International underwriters located in EMEA (Europe Middle East and Africa) and you will be our linking pin with the US team to coordinate the EMEA business.

Our team is focused on building relationships with key partners in the large corporate and middle-market risk segments. You will be part of a small but dynamic and collaborative team of experienced underwriters in the US, focused on profit-oriented underwriting of Construction, Engineering, and Renewable Energy risks (operational and construction risks).

The work location is flexible to many of our Corporate Solutions offices across the United States. Our company has a hybrid work model where the expectation is that you will be in the office two to three days per week on average.

About the Role :

We're looking for a highly motivated and result-oriented reverse flow Underwriter to support the EMEA team with the international programs placed in the US and Canada.

You will be part of the North American Engineering and Construction team in the USA. For this Role you will have a dual reporting line;

a strong reporting line to the Head of Engineering & Construction and Renewable Energy EMEA and a direct report line to the Head Engineering & Construction and Renewable Energy North America.

The Reverse-Flow Underwriter will be responsible for reviewing and evaluating renewal and new, local accounts as part of a global program in accordance with established underwriting guidelines.

The candidate will work on US admitted and non-admitted accounts of all sizes placed out of EMEA. Lines of business include Construction, Engineering, and Operational Renewable Energy.

The candidate will work closely with the US Construction and Engineering team as well with the overseas EMEA Construction & Engineering underwriters to coordinate terms and conditions as part of a global controlled master program.

The candidate will provide account management services that will integrate the US & Canada coverage into a worldwide controlled master insurance program.

The candidate must be able to work effectively and collaborate with a team of underwriters, and other disciplines e.g. underwriting associates, Legal, Tax dept.

operations, claims etc.. The underwriter will be responsible for building relationships with US brokers and international underwriters.

The position may require periodic travel.

About You :

The above position requires a strong service orientation to facilitate positive relationships with brokers as well as our international colleagues.

The potential candidate should have knowledge of commercial underwriting and insurance industry practices. He / she should also demonstrate technical expertise in Construction and Operational Risks.

In addition, the individual should possess the following skills / qualities :

  • At least 2 years underwriting US property or construction risks
  • Experience in International Program underwriting
  • Ability to adapt to changing business environment
  • Full command of English Language
  • Demonstrate ability to think creatively
  • Proven time and desk management skills
  • Strong (verbal and written) communication, interpersonal and negotiation skills
  • Ability to work independently, show initiative, while demonstrating strong collaboration skills in a team environment
  • Solid organizational and analytical skills

Is motivated to be the linking pin between US and EMEA

Experience or knowledge of the European insurance market will be highly valued.
