Assistant Professor, Clinical / Health Service Psychology
Description
The University of Houston-Clear Lake (UHCL) invites applications for a tenure-track faculty position beginning Fall 2025 in the PsyD program (combined Clinical and School Psychology) at the Assistant Professor level, within the College of Human Sciences and Humanities.
The PsyD program, which received accreditation from the American Psychological Association in August 2023, is housed in the Psychological and Behavioral Health Sciences.
The selected candidate will also contribute to the Clinical Psychology master’s program. Area of research expertise is open, but consideration will be given to those with a child focus, and / or a focus in behavioral, cognitive behavioral, third-wave cognitive behavior, or health psychology focus.
Duties :
Teach the equivalent of two classes per semester (Fall and Spring).
Supervise and advise Doctoral and Master’s students, including research supervision of theses and dissertations and supervision in the clinic.
Establish a research program that will include the mentoring of graduate students.
Engage in research and scholarly activity that produces publications.
Engage in service to the program, especially service that sustains the program and APA accreditation.
Engage in other service to the college, university, profession, and / or community.
Perform other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Required :
Earned Doctorate in Clinical Psychology, from APA-accredited program
Psychology Licensure (Licensed Psychologist, or license-eligibility)
Ability to teach courses at the graduate level that meets the needs of the program.
Ability to mentor undergraduate and graduate students in various domains.
Ability to develop and maintain an active research program.
Ability to engage in scholarly productivity.
Preferred :
Evidence of potential for teaching excellence across a wide range of psychology courses, particularly with emphasis related to practicum, CBT, and health psychology.
Research focus in child, CBT, or health psychology.
Potential for or experience in generating external grant funding.
Prior experience supervising and mentoring students.
Bilingual Skills (especially Spanish)
