Nurse Practitioners (NP) conduct physical assessments, perform and interpret diagnostic tests, diagnose and treat common conditions, provide screenings, interventions, counseling, and prescribe medications as needed to patients in specified age categories.

Provide accurate assessment, diagnosis, and treatment of common family illnesses. Responsibilities include :

  • Diagnose and treat acute & chronic conditions
  • Prescribe necessary medications & treatments
  • Perform comprehensive physical examinations of patients
  • Communicate with collaborating physician or specialist regarding patient care
  • Have a positive attitude & excellent patient care

  • Exercise independent clinical judgement in managing patient care
  • Willingness to travel between offices

Qualifications :

  • Nurse Practitioner degree and certification in Maryland / DC
  • National Board Certification and DEA license
  • Experience with EMR
  • Ability to build rapport with patients
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong leadership qualities

Clinical Practice & Management of Care : Provides safe therapeutic care in a holistic and systemic way to include the assessment and overall management of care for a specified patient population under the supervision of an MD.

Exercises independent judgement in the assessment, diagnosis and initiation of medical processes and procedures in accordance with the nurse practitioner licensure regulations.

Teamwork : Communicates effectively and works collaboratively with others. Demonstrates respect for and understanding of other clinical disciplines, and uses an integrated approach to achieve desired patient outcomes.

Evidence-based / Best Practice : Utilizes evidenced-based standards, guidelines, and protocols for care delivery. Incorporates data and information to continuously improve care and practice.

Professional Development : Ensures improvements in practice settings by assuming responsibility for self-development in life-long learning.

Provides direction and guidance to others regarding practice, serves as a resource, and mentor. Leadership skills demonstrated in decision making and problem solving.

RequirementsExperience :

Progressive clinical nursing experience; Three to five years of clinical nursing experience as a NP experience.

Education :

Graduate of an accredited school of nursing Bachelors in Nursing and Masters in Advanced Clinical Practice or graduate of a post masters certificate program for nurse practitioners, or certificate from an education program that is accredited by the Council of Nurse Anesthesia Educational Programs / Schools, American College of Nurse Midwives, American Association of Colleges of Nursing of the National League for Nursing.

Training :

BLS; Specific to specialty (e.g. ACLS, NALS, PALS, ENCC, ATLS, NRP)

Certification :

Certification for advanced practice Certificate in area of specialty

Licensure :

Licensed or eligible for licensing as a nurse practitioner in the state of employment RN Compact License (depending on State of primary residence) and a license (or eligibility for) as a nurse practitioner in the state of employment AND a Drug Enforcement Administration License (if prescribing controlled substances)
