The Neurology Department is looking for an Experienced Technician to aid our patients before & after procedures. Do you want to work in an interesting environment and learn new skills?

The Patient Care Technician - Neurology is responsible for providing outstanding patient care and exceptional client service while working with doctors and shift leadership to address patient care needs.

  • Perform quality work within the scope of the mission and purpose statement of Central Texas Veterinary Specialty and Emergency Hospital.
  • Work effectively and independently while understanding the necessity for communicating and coordinating work efforts with other employees.
  • Commit to providing excellent high-quality care to patients and clients.
  • Assist in the recovery of post-operative patients by monitoring vitals, pain levels, activity, cleanliness, and treatments.
  • Prepare, verify, and explain medications for patients being discharged.
  • Coordinate baths and clean-ups for patients before release.
  • Monitor and respond to client messages on patient care.
  • Provide general nursing care and comfort to patients in the treatment room.
  • Coordinate client visits during visiting hours and provide updates on patient conditions during visits.
  • Handle phone calls for clients having problems with patients at home when a doctor is unavailable.
  • Perform daily post-op follow-up recalls.
  • Perform computer entries, invoicing, prescriptions, etc.
  • Be consistently punctual and ready to work at the start of each shift.

SECONDARY RESPONSIBILITIES :

  • Proper animal restraint.
  • Administer patient treatments as ordered by a doctor in the ICU and Ward.
  • Perform basic inventory and stocking duties as required.

QUALIFICATIONS :

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Veterinary technician experience is required; licensure is preferred.
  • Experience with post-operative patient monitoring.
  • Customer service and computer skills are necessary.

QUALIFICATIONS :

  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Veterinary Technician experience is required.
  • Licensure is preferred but not required.
  • Genuinely enjoys working with animals and can effectively deal with them even when they are stressed, ill, or in pain.
  • Must be able to lift and restrain pets of at least 40 pounds, and work on feet most of the day.
  • Excellent customer service, computer, and phone etiquette skills are required.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS :

  • Ability to bend, stand, stoop, walk, and stand for an extended period of time.
  • Required to lift up to forty (40) pounds. Employees will be expected to request assistance with lifting or carrying animals or materials over 40 pounds.

WORK REQUIREMENTS :

  • Overtime and working at other hospital locations may be required.
  • The role may involve exposure to radiation, gas sterilization using ethylene oxide, and hazards associated with infected animals and controlled substances.
  • Possible exposure to contagious diseases, unpleasant odors, and noises.
  • Exposure to aggressive patients, bites, scratches, and animal waste is a possibility.
