Job Title : Part-time Occupational Therapist

Location : Brentwood, CA

Position Overview : The School District is seeking a dedicated and skilled Occupational Therapist to join our team on a part-time basis.

The Occupational Therapist will be responsible for providing therapy services to high school students with disabilities, aiming to enhance their participation in academic and daily activities.

This role involves conducting assessments, developing individualized therapy plans, and working collaboratively with teachers, parents, and other professionals to support student success.

Key Responsibilities :

Assessment and Evaluation :

  • Conduct thorough assessments to evaluate students' motor skills, sensory processing, and functional abilities.
  • Identify students' needs and determine appropriate occupational therapy interventions.
  • Collaborate with the Individualized Education Plan (IEP) team to develop and implement effective IEPs.

Therapy Services :

  • Provide direct occupational therapy services to students, focusing on improving fine motor skills, sensory integration, and functional daily living skills.
  • Design and implement therapy activities that support students' educational and developmental goals.
  • Modify and adapt the school environment and materials to accommodate students' unique needs.

Collaboration and Consultation :

  • Work closely with teachers, special education staff, and other related service providers to support student learning and participation in school activities.
  • Provide consultation and training to school staff on strategies for supporting students with disabilities in the classroom.
  • Communicate regularly with parents and caregivers to share progress and offer guidance for supporting students at home.

Documentation and Compliance :

  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of assessments, therapy sessions, and student progress.
  • Ensure compliance with state and federal regulations related to special education and occupational therapy services.
  • Prepare required reports and documentation for the school district and other regulatory bodies.

Professional Development :

  • Stay informed about current best practices, research, and advancements in occupational therapy.
  • Participate in professional development opportunities and contribute to the school district's initiatives related to student health and wellness.

Qualifications :

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Occupational Therapy from an accredited institution.
  • Valid California Occupational Therapist license.
  • Experience working with adolescents in a school setting is preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of special education laws, regulations, and best practices.
  • Excellent communication, collaboration, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.

Work Schedule :

Part-time position with flexible hours based on student needs and school schedules.
