Position Highlights : 9A Medical-Surgical Unit
- Number of beds on unit : 24 private beds
- Patient population : Medical-surgical patients above 17 years of age
- Nurse to Patient ratio : 1 : 5 (occasionally 1 : 6)
- Department culture and resources : Fast-paced unit with medically complex patients. Strong teamwork and communication emphasized.
- Frequent nursing skills / equipment used : Nursing assessments, medication administration, collaboration with multiple disciplines, hands-on skills such as IV insertion, wound care, and more.
LPNs on this unit are responsible for medication administration, wound care, trach care, NG tube and feeding care, ostomy care, and more under the supervision of RNs.
