Special Education Teacher
The Special Education Teacher works within a defined schedule during a 10.5-month academic year. All hours and job duties are applicable to 10.
5 months. The Special Education Teacher establishes and maintains a therapeutic / pro-social learning environment while monitoring, reviewing, and revising individual education plans (IEP) as needed.
Completes progress documentation such as report cards, assessments and IEP progress reports for parents and the local education agency.
Participates in staff / committee meetings in addition to planning and implementing developmentally appropriate daily lesson plans and therapeutic teaching strategies consistent with IEP goals, objectives, transition plans and the Virginia Standards of Learning is of vital importance.
Provides assessments, planning, treatments, interventions, and evaluations to patients with addictions. Engages students in learning by using a variety of instructional strategies to meet individual learning needs.

This is a full-time day position Mon-Fri
Job Responsibilities :
- Ensures that student progress is measured by written and alternate response modes (i.e. tests, quizzes, homework, class participation, reports and projects).
- Ensures that the quality of documentation reflects progress on IEP goals and objectives in a timely, professional and informative manner.
- Formulates mutually agreed-upon treatment goals and objectives with clients by utilizing all available resources.
- Uses pre-assessment data to develop expectations for students to differentiate instructions and to document learning.
- Establishes clear expectations, with student input, for classroom guidelines and procedures early in the school year and enforces them and the school-wide behavior management protocol consistently and fairly.
Experience :
- One year of experience working with youth or adolescents. One year of professional experience in a school setting.
- Preferred : English education
Education :
Bachelor's Degree in relevant field (or 4 years of experience in lieu of degree)
Certifications :
- Basic Life Support (BLS) - American Heart Association- Upon on Start
- Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation- Upon Start
