1. Ensures that all actions are in concert with the Board policies as well as the mission statement, beliefs, objectives, and parameters found in the Board’s strategic plan.

2. Carries out such additional duties as required or as conditions necessitate.

3. Participates in job training and professional growth opportunities to enhance ability to perform the essential functions of the job.

4. Performs other related duties as assigned for the purpose of ensuring an efficient and effective work environment.

5. Shall supervise and evaluate the work of all Transportation Department personnel to provide for total overall efficiency.

6. Shall develop in cooperation with the Chief Operations Officer, the operational transportation budget.

7. Shall cooperation with the Director of Purchasing in the development of specifications for the bidding of all Transportation requirements.

8. Shall develop plans for a fleet to meet needs of a district within the framework of budget and Board policy.

9. Shall hire, train, and supervise activities of all drivers.

10. Shall establish and maintain a complete Maintenance Department including hiring and supervision of mechanics and bus preparation staff.

11. Shall establish and maintain a working parts inventory for repairs and preventative maintenance.

12. Shall designate within department responsibility for the efficient scheduling of buses.

13. Shall continually monitor income and expenditures and adjust services to fall within framework of projected income and expenses.

QUALIFICATIONS : Bachelor’s Degree required. Master’s Degree preferred. 6-8 years’ experience in a comparable role.

WORKING CONDITIONS : Moderate local travel as well as intermittent in-state and out-of-state travel. Intermittent prolonged and irregular hours of work.

PHYSICAL ASPECTS OF THE POSITION : These may include climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, liftin, finger use, grasping, talking.

This role may also require exposure to outside environment conditions, exposed to extreme heat / cold for periods greater than an hour, subject to noise which would require them to shout, subject to hazards including a variety of physical conditions such as proximity to moving mechanical parts, electric current, chemicals, etc.
