Accounts Payable Director- MASTER TRADES GROUP

Master Trades Group, a leading residential services platform specializing in plumbing and HVAC services with operations across the Mid-Atlantic and Southeast regions under various brands, is seeking an experienced Accounts Payable Director .

In this role, you will lead and optimize our accounts payable function, overseeing vendor invoice processing, payment disbursements, corporate credit card transactions, and related financial operations.

The Director of Payment Services will be responsible for driving operational efficiency, implementing transformation strategies, and ensuring strict compliance with financial policies and procedures.

The candidate must be located within a commutable distance to Columbia, MD. This is an 80% office-based position with 20% remote work and some travel to local branch offices.

Essential Job Responsibilities :

  • Lead the implementation of the payment services transformation strategy
  • Optimize quick pay discount earnings and liquidity relative to vendor payment terms
  • Drive strict compliance to travel / entertainment and business expense policy
  • Strong governance around the use of purchase orders, purchase requisition procedures and the procure-to-pay process
  • Establish and drive performance management for the payment services function; DPO, Quick pay discount realization rate, employee retention, etc.
  • Identify, implement and optimize AP automation software to improve the team’s capability, capacity and efficiency
  • Transition from a decentralized AP org structure to a centralize shared services function
  • Integrate payment services function for acquired companies within 90 days of acquisition
  • Formulate 13 weekly disbursements forecast for the purposes of cash forecasting
  • Develop policies and procedures to ensure robust internal controls and governance Established and maintain a high employee engagement culture
  • Develop, coach, mentor and lead a high performing department of employees

Qualifications / Abilities :

  • Ability to work Monday-Friday 8 AM - 6 PM, with some late nights and weekends.
  • Strong experience developing strategic plans and managing the implementation of the plans
  • Experience transforming a decentralized team of employees into a centralized share service team
  • M&A integration Experience
  • Proven performance management experience
  • Ability to accurately forecast weekly disbursements
  • Prior experience developing, implementing and enforcing Standard Operating Procedures
  • Proven experience creating a highly engaged team along with hiring, developing, mentoring and coaching employees to achieve a high performing team with below average turnover.
  • Proven Project Management Experience
  • Strong technology acumen; selecting, implementing, upgrading and proficient use of technology
  • Communicate effectively using internal / external customer service and develop a teamwork focused and collaborative environment
  • Strong interpersonal, verbal, presentation and writing skills
  • Consistently clean audit opinions with no Auditor corrections as the Corporate Controller / Head of Accounting
  • Above average financial modeling, analysis and reconciliation skills
  • Highest degree of ethics and integrity

Education / Experience :

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • 10+ years of progressive management experience leading teams of 10-15 is required
  • Extensive Payment Services experience
  • Transformational leadership experience implementing AP automation technology and centralizing a decentralized team experience is required
  • Residential home service industry experience is a plus
