Spurwink Adult Behavioral Health is looking for a collaborative, good-natured Medical Assistant to join our vibrant, interdisciplinary, team serving the complex needs of adults with behavioral health challenges in the greater Portland area.

This is a full-time benefits-earning position with no nights, weekends, or on-call required.

Candidates must have successfully completed a medical assistant program from an accredited vocational institution or community college.

Certification with the American Association of Medical Assistant (AAMA) is preferred but not required.

DUTIES :

  • Administer antipsychotic injections and oral medications, pack medication caddies.
  • Participates as a member of a multidisciplinary team, by providing health information related to participant medical history and needs, medications, co-morbidities, and immunizations, etc.
  • Manage incoming patients and outside provider phone calls to providers. Screen and respond to calls and communicate outcomes to providers to enhance coordination of care.
  • Secure and track prescription authorizations. Assist providers and patients with contacting the pharmacy. Enroll / re-enroll patients in the patient assistance programs.

QUALIFICATIONS :

Successful completion of a medical assistant program from an accredited vocational institution or community college and / or certification with the AAMA (American Association of Medical Assistant).

Must maintain required licensing and certification throughout the duration of employment with Spurwink in this role. 1-2 years of experience as a medical assistant preferred.
