OUR PRODUCT IS OPEN-SOURCE AND USED AT ENTERPRISE SCALE

Our distributed data engine Daft is open-sourced and runs on 800k CPU cores daily. This is more compute than Frontier, the world's largest supercomputer!

Today's data tooling (Spark, Presto, Snowflake) was built for a world of tabular data analytics, but does not generalize to the needs of modern ML / AI such as multimodal data, heterogenous compute and user-defined Python algorithms.

Eventual and Daft bridge that gap, making ML / AI workloads easy to run alongside traditional tabular workloads.

Overview :

We are seeking a Platform Engineer to join our Engineer team. As a Platform Engineer, you will be responsible for architecting, developing, and maintaining the infrastructure that underlies our core data platform product offering.

You will collaborate closely with software developers, system engineers, and other stakeholders to ensure our platforms are scalable, reliable, and efficient.

Key Responsibilities :

• Build out the Eventual data platform and product for both serverless and bring-your-own-cloud (BYOC) architectures.
• Architect and implement security best-practices to ensure customer data privacy.
• Work closely with users to build the Eventual platform to synergize tightly with the open source Daft data engine.
• Integrate tightly with Daft to provide a first-class serverless user experience (low cold start times, intelligent query / infrastructure planning, resource provisioning etc).
• Develop distributed observability tooling for customers to debug and optimize data jobs.
• Build out high availability (HA) architecture for running petabyte-scale data workloads.

Required Skills and Qualifications :

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent work experience).
• Proven experience as a Platform Engineer or similar role in a large-scale environment.
• Strong proficiency in cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) and infrastructure automation tools (Terraform, Ansible, etc.).
• Experience with container and virtual machine technologies (Firecracker, gVisor, Docker, Kubernetes etc).
• Solid understanding of networking concepts (TCP / IP, DNS, VPN, etc.) and security best practices.
• Strong empathy for users and a passion for building platform products with amazing UX.
• Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team, with a strong track record for technical leadership.

Preferred Skills :

• Experience with DevOps practices and tools (CI / CD pipelines, Jenkins, Git, etc.).
• Knowledge of serverless computing (AWS Lambda, Azure Functions).
• Familiarity with logging and monitoring tools (ELK Stack, Prometheus, Grafana).
