DESCRIPTION OF POSITION :
The Archer Administration Director of Nursing provides leadership and has 24 hour responsibility and accountability for the successful operation of a designated unit / department / service.
They participate as a member of the hospital's management team in planning, policy formulation and administrative decision making with particular reference to the role, functions and operation of the unit / department / service.
Finally, they are a steward of the hospital's mission and service excellence program.
RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES :
- Develops, implements and enforces policies and procedures which support the Hospital's mission, goals and objectives.
- Ensures that staff complies with mandatory education, licensure requirements, mandatory health requirements, etc.
- Develops annual departmental budget and operates within budgetary guidelines.
- Recommends and ensures appropriate staffing levels. Allocates resources according to priorities.
- Identifies and resolves problems in a timely manner.
- Gathers and analyzes information skillfully.
- Develops alternative solutions.
- Generates creative solutions and attention to detail.
- Demonstrates persistence and follow through even when faced with adversity or challenges.

EDUCATION AND WORK EXPERIENCE
- MSN preferred; BSN accepted.
- 5 years of psychiatric nurse experience.
- Current RN licensure in the State of Louisiana or compact state license; current CPR, ACLS, PALS as required by policy
- Computer skills.
- Ability to read, write and speak intelligible English; Ability to communicate with patients, family, peers and medical personnel; Basic math skills.
- Requires emotional stability and resilience; Must be adaptable to change, be decisive, and demonstrates foresight; Exhibits organizational and leadership ability.
Physical Demands / Work Environment
- Work may require evenings, nights, weekends, holidays and / or a flexible schedule depending on the needs of the unit / department / service.
- Requires professional written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to deal with stressful situations and conflict resolution.
- Must have normal hearing or utilize adaptive devices to listen with a stethoscope to discern breath sounds, heart sounds, bowel sounds.
