Description & Requirements
The Broad Institute Genomics Platform is seeking a software engineer to join our Data Analysis & Operations team. Members of the team build and support a high scale cloud-based system for orchestrating genomics pipelines and data delivery.
An ideal candidate will help create and support automated workflows as well as our devops infrastructure.
Here at Broad our collaborators are large-scale institutions (government, industry, academic, and philanthropic) that partner with us to generate clinical and genomic data, build new algorithms, and make it all available to researchers through our open-source analysis platform.
We routinely partner with organizations across the biomedical ecosystem as well as scientists in our local MIT, Harvard, and affiliated hospital neighborhood.
Everything that goes on at the Broad, almost without exception, involves the use of specialized software. Software engineers create our advanced algorithms, deliver solid infrastructure, and high quality portals.
Software engineers at the Broad Institute are highly valued and classified as Staff Scientists.
We are looking for candidates with computer science degrees, but we value the varied backgrounds of our colleagues, and we know that great developers come by many paths.
MINIMUM YEARS OF EXPERIENCE & OTHER QUALIFICATIONS
2+ years software development experience
Ability to write technical documents
Capable of understanding technical requirements
Ability to learn new technologies and domains
SKILLS / TECHNICAL KNOWLEDGE / CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS :
Familiarity with cloud environments (e.g. GCP, AWS)
Experience working with relational databases and in writing SQL queries
Troubleshooting and debugging experience
Familiarity with Apache Airflow a plus
