Warehouse Associate

Job Summary
We are looking for an individual and specialty coffee enthusiast who is interested in working with a dynamic specialty coffee company serving coffee shops, specialty markets and food service.
The ideal candidate is a dependable, hard-working individual, who can maintain detail-oriented focus with minimal supervision.
Responsibilities & Requirements
- Detail-oriented picking, reviewing, and packing of coffees, coffeehouse and gourmet beverage products consisting of individual items or case packs for FedEx, UPS, and LTL shipment, as well as customer pickups.
- Recognize or differentiate between all types of products carried in the inventory, including differences between varieties of similar classes of products (e.
g., flavoring syrups, drink mixes, etc.
- Scan, bag, and label the orders efficiently and accurately, while following established company policy and procedures, ensuring orders are packed accurately and securely for our customers.
- Receive inbound freight. Organize products according to movement volume and monitor best-by dating. Conduct regular cycle-counts as well as quarterly and end-of-year inventory counts.
- Accurately enter data utilizing handheld scanners and manually into various shipping software applications as well as inventory management software.
- Safely operate a walk-behind, straddle-stacker style forklift and manual pallet jacks to arrange, load, and unload freight.
- Maintain a safe and clean work environment, adhering to the Food Safety Plan and company safety policies. Assist Shipping and Receiving and Coffee Production teams with routine cleaning and GMP checklist duties to comply with all requirements.
- Accountability includes various building maintenance and common area duties as well as flexibility to assist in other departments when needed.
Qualifications
- Ability to repeatedly lift at least from a few pounds to 30 lbs. frequently and unassisted and stand / move for 8 hrs.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Previous warehouse and / or inventory control experience required.
- Basic computer and data entry skills. (Word, Excel, Outlook, ERP)
- Use of warehouse scanning tools.
- Flexibility to quickly shift focus and assist where needed.
- Ability to communicate with and anticipate teammates’ needs.
- Comfortable with multi-tasking in a fast-paced, ever-changing warehouse environment.
Physical Requirements
Heavy lifting and repetitive motions. Ability to lift up to 75 pounds, unassisted and repetitively during a normal daily shift.
Includes pushing or pulling carts and pallets of products using material handling equipment.
- Standing and walking. Position requires long periods of standing and walking on concrete surfaces.
- Climbing. Ladders, stepladders, and trailer steps. Ability to ascend and descend safely while balancing a load.
- Bending. Ability to bend at the waist, repeatedly, to retrieve scoops of coffee and other supplies.
- Hearing. Ability to distinguish various mechanical sounds and receive verbal information in a moderately noisy environment.
- Speaking. Ability to verbally communicate and relay information in a moderately noisy environment.
- Vision. Ability to distinguish between color shades of roasted coffee. Acuity to operate machinery, forklifts, and hand tools.
- Attention span. Ability to pay close attention to multiple tasks at detail level for long durations.
Experience / Education
- High School Diploma or Equivalent.
- Experience working in beverage or food production industry. (Preferred)
- Basic math skills. Percentages and ability to convert between various measurement units.
- Computer skills. Proficient in MS Outlook, Excel, Word, and basic computer navigation. (Experience with FedEx Ship Manager, MAS and MS Access preferred)
Workplace Conditions
Temperature. Employees will be subject to temperature fluctuations. The workplace is climate controlled, but the nature of the job requires standing and climbing near heated machinery.
Temperatures more than 100 degrees Fahrenheit are common.
- Environmental. Exposure to significant amounts of dust, burlap / jute, and coffee chaff. Dust masks, respirators, and eye protection are provided.
- Noise. Substantial noise is associated with machinery to the extent that loud speech levels and possibly shouting is required for verbal communication.
Hearing protection is provided for certain tasks.
Hazards. The workplace contains a variety of hot equipment, machinery and ducting, fast-moving mechanical parts, electrical currents, ladders, heavy moving machinery (forklift), and overhead storage.
Compensation & Benefits (90-day probationary period) Full Time
- $16-18 / hour DOE
