Registered Nurse Director - Surgical Services
Location : Riverside, CA
Virtus Healthcare Staffing is seeking a dynamic and experienced Registered Nurse (RN) to lead the Surgical Services department at our partner hospital in Riverside, CA.
This crucial leadership role requires a dedicated individual with a passion for surgical excellence and a proven ability to inspire and guide a team of healthcare professionals.
Key Responsibilities
Leadership & Management :
Provide strategic oversight and direction for the Surgical Services department, fostering a culture of collaboration, efficiency, and continuous improvement.
Proactively identify and address challenges, implementing effective solutions and clear communication strategies.
Oversee daily operations, ensuring adherence to policies, procedures, and professional standards, and promoting a positive patient experience.
Coach and mentor staff, providing constructive feedback, and facilitating individual development plans.
Participate actively in hospital-wide committees and initiatives, representing the Surgical Services department and advocating for its needs.
Clinical Excellence & Quality Improvement :
Enforce standards of care for surgical services and develop processes to measure and ensure consistent compliance.
Develop, implement, and evaluate a robust surgical services program that prioritizes quality patient care and aligns with the hospital's mission.
Monitor compliance with regulatory, accrediting, and hospital policies related to patient, personnel, and environmental safety.
Oversee a Performance Improvement (PI) program that consistently monitors and evaluates critical aspects of care.
Operational & Fiscal Management :
Ensure the department's operational excellence by delivering quality services efficiently and effectively.
Adhere to the Hospital Exposure Control Plans / Bloodborne and Airborne Pathogens.
Enforce safe procedural site and patient verification policies.
Monitor and respond to quality event reporting.
Support new program strategies and / or program enhancements to expand patient services.
Develop, prioritize, and advocate for capital equipment requests.
Manage the department's fiscal resources responsibly, ensuring proper utilization and cost-effectiveness.
Growth & Development :
Advance the growth agenda for Surgical Services, striving to become the OR of choice for physicians, patients, staff, and payers in the community.
Demonstrate strong leadership skills, commanding respect and inspiring confidence within the organization and community.
Develop and build strategic internal and external networks.
Promote positive patient interactions and unparalleled patient service.

Qualifications :
A Bachelor's degree in nursing is required; a Master's degree in Nursing, Business Administration, Healthcare Administration, or a related field is preferred.
3+ years of experience in a leadership role or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Currently licensed as a registered professional nurse in the state of California.
CNOR (Certified Nurse Operating Room) certification is preferred.
CSSM (Certified Surgical Services Manager) certification is preferred.
