Immediate Full Time Opening for an Accounting Leader in the Commercial Real Estate Industry.
Base Salary : $130-145k Plus 10% Bonus and great benefits!
This position has 3 Direct Reports and will oversee the Day to Day Accounting Duties
This person will serve as a player-coach. He or She will direct our in-house Accounting Team and regularly interact with a variety of consultants (e.
g., CPA firm, insurance broker, etc.) He or She will guide the team through all general ledger balance sheet account reconciliations, financial reporting, booking acquisitions and sales, budgeting and analysis matters, triple net reconciliations, etc.
The Controller will also work regularly with our Property Management and Construction departments.
Principal Responsibilities :
- Supervise the preparation of monthly property financial statements.
- Supervise the calculation and recording of monthly depreciation.
- Oversee maintenance of the fixed asset system.
- Have a working knowledge of our operating and capital budgets for each investment property.
- Work directly with third party consultants such as outside accounting firms, insurance brokers, and various banks / lending institutions on treasury operations, loan payments, maintenance of bank accounts, etc.
- Review all checks that have been prepared by the Accounting Department for signature.
- Interact on accounting matters with our investors regarding their financial questions and tax return information.
- Help develop operating and capital budgets for each property.
- Direct the year end closings, financial processes / procedures.
- Track, analyze and report on portfolio / property performance metrics.
- Monitor Company fee generation from construction and maintenance operations.
- Help monitor tenant delinquencies and other accounts receivable.
- Become a proficient user of Yardi.
- Become a proficient user of Excel.
- Assist CFO with exploring opportunities to improve profitability.
- Assist CFO with presentations to senior management, investors and lenders on various projects.
- Develop a general knowledge of our lease agreements.
- Manage special projects as assigned by Senior Management.
Skills / Qualifications :
- 5 to 10 years of experience in accounting and commercial real estate is required.
- Knowledge of Microsoft Outlook, Word and Excel.
- Working knowledge of financial data analytics.
- Yardi-Voyager real estate software or MRI software experience.
- Good communication skills.
- Ability to handle change and work independently
- Accounting or Business Degree
