Job Summary Under general supervision, engineer who analyzes design criteria and applicable codes, client scope of work, project requirements and prepares calculations required for the production of structural engineering construction drawings and specifications for building and non-building projects.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Prepares moderately complex studies, construction documents, basic reports and other supporting documentation to support structural building design.
- Prepares technical specifications.
- Interprets data and prepares drawings for building and non-building projects.
- Provide engineering and project support to the Designer of Record (DOR).
- Act as DOR, as required.
- Provide clear redlines for EIT’s and BIM designers.
- Ability to check design calculations performed by others.
- Ability to handle multiple projects.
- Ability to follow MBI project standards and team protocols.
- Ability to review and comment on construction submittals, respond to Contractor Requests for Information (RFI) and review corrective action for field errors.
- Familiar with Department of Defense, government, client and industrial local codes, regulations and standards governing design and construction projects.
- High proficiency in Bluebeam or Adobe Acrobat PDF, and MS Teams.
- Communicates with Senior Engineers, other disciplines and Project Managers, schedules and attends internal meetings, as necessary, and documents important action items for the next meeting.
- Assist in defining scope of work and man-hour estimates.
- Assists with proposal production and implementing marketing initiatives.
- Responsible for maintaining technical knowledge through completion of various training activities : attending seminars, reviewing professional publications, attending in-house systems / management training.
- Responsible for maintaining professional licensure.
- Occasionally visits project sites, reporting and documenting findings to Project Manager and / or Owner.
- Other duties as assigned.
Supervisory Responsibilities May provide guidance or informal training to less experience personnel. Experience 8+ years of experience.
Masters degree may substitute 1-2 years of experience. Education Bachelor’s degree in Structural, Architectural or Civil Engineering.
Minimum Qualifications, Skills and Abilities

- Proficiency with RAM SS, RISA 3D, Tekla Structural Designer, ETABS, Revit, Enercalc, Microsoft Excel, MS Office Suite
- Familiar with structural design codes such as IBC, ASCE 7, ASCE 41, AISC, TMS, and ACI.
- Familiar with Unified Facilities Criteria and UFGS.
- Strong technical writing and verbal communication skills.
- Verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Maintain professional licensure in state which employee resides.
- Available for periodic travel.
COMPENSATION
The salary range for this position is $82,326-$118,858. This will be dependent on the experience and expertise of the incoming candidate.
