Role

As a senior leader in our Infrastructure team, you will oversee the Platform Engineering group, collaborating with engineering, product, and operations to build scalable, reliable, and performant systems that support millions of users as we scale.

Responsibilities

• Lead and mentor a team of highly skilled engineers, guiding them through complex technical challenges and supporting their personal and professional growth.
• Develop and implement strategic roadmaps for platform engineering that align with company objectives, ensuring scalability and enabling developer velocity.
• Ensure engineers can work effectively within and leveraging our platform services.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to influence product decisions and ensure engineering solutions meet business and technical needs.
• Drive best practices in software engineering, reducing technical debt, improving code quality, and evolving engineering practices for faster delivery.
• Own the architecture and development of critical infrastructure initiatives, including backend services, real-time systems, and storage infrastructure.
• Foster a culture of innovation and continuous learning, encouraging experimentation and adoption of new technologies.
• Monitor industry trends to keep Whatnot at the cutting edge of platform and infrastructure technology.
• Scale the team through hiring, mentorship, and leadership development initiatives.

Team location note

Team members in this role are required to be within commuting distance of our San Francisco, CA; Los Angeles, CA; New York, NY; or Seattle, WA hubs.

Compensation Range : $270K - $305K
