Sr. Financial Analyst Benefits, Payroll & Corp Card - HOUSTON TX ( days on-site, -day WFH) Corporate office.

Job Summary : This position is responsible for completing moderately complex to complex financial analysis. This includes identifying the need for accounting transactions required due to changes in GAAP (generally accepted accounting principles) and IFRS (International Financial Reporting Standards) requirements as well as due to changes in Client operations which result in issues with GAAP / IFRS compliance not previously encountered by Client.
This position identifies the impact of changes in pension liabilities, benefit plans on current and future reported cash flow and existing or contemplated debt covenants.
This position reviews general ledger account balance reconciliations and assists less experienced analysts in preparing and anticipating correcting entries identified during that reconciliation.
In addition the job develops financial processes within the Finance organization and where those processes do not already exist confirms the staffing needs to perform those processes.
This position will evaluate and propose improvements to or pension & benefit plans. This position will analyze financial results and report on those results for the department manager to which the analyst is assigned as well as the overall Finance Department.
Use knowledge of GAAP, IFRS, Client operations and Client financial processes as they relate to both corporate and business unit earnings to act as an analytical resource within the Finance Department and within all business units.
Creative thinking skills are required for identifying issues before a potential problem is
recognized. In addition, use of more sophisticated financial analysis and statistical tools will be required. This position will also help evaluate the tools to be used.
Perform analytical tasks independent of direct supervision. Identify future risks to Client assets resulting from analysis processes by responding to management directions but without day-to-day supervision.
Job Responsibilities :
Pension & Benefits Accounting Perform moderate to complex analysis for management reporting. Provide support to rd party administrators as needed.
Provide backup for Benefits Financial Manager and staff.
Corporate Card - Perform audits of expense reports and procard statements as needed. Assist with GR / IR reconciliation for credit card charges & expense report postings.
Provide backup for the Corporate Card Manager and staff as needed. Perform ad hoc analysis to support corporate card administration and travel policy.
- Corporate Payroll Provide backup & perform ad hoc analysis for the Corporate Payroll Manager & staff as needed.
- Prepare management presentations, coordinate activities of outside vendors and work with internal & external auditors, and ensure essential information receipt / publication timelines are met.
- Work with clients Treasury to coordinate forecasts of cash payments and receipts.
- Analyze pension and benefits data to develop the burden and other rate projections for the annual budget & MTP processes.
- Perform manual JV analysis and resolve issues.
- Special Projects Perform analysis and evaluation of Financial IT systems and tools as requested by the Manager Benefits Accounting & Payroll, Controller, or VP of Finance.
Also performs ad hoc financial and operational analysis as required.
