Title : Corporate Real Estate In-House Counsel - Single Family Homebuilding

Salary Range : $175,000 - $225,000 + Bonus (Overall comp : $230,000 - $250,000)

Responsibilities :

  • Provide comprehensive legal counsel and guidance on all aspects of real estate acquisitions, dispositions, development, construction, and land use matters.
  • Conduct due diligence reviews, draft and negotiate complex real estate contracts, purchase agreements, deeds, easements, restrictive covenants, and related documentation.
  • Analyze land titles, zoning regulations, environmental reports, and survey data to identify potential risks and ensure compliance with local, state, and federal laws.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders, including executives, business units, and cross-functional teams, to align legal strategies with the company's objectives.
  • Represent the company in legal proceedings, negotiations, and dispute resolutions related to real estate transactions and land development projects.
  • Stay updated on changes in real estate laws, regulations, and industry best practices, ensuring the company's practices remain compliant and competitive.
  • Manage and oversee the work of outside counsel engaged for specialized real estate matters, ensuring quality and cost-effectiveness.

Qualifications :

  • Must have relevant experience in corporate real estate law, ideally with a focus on residential development, preferably within the homebuilding industry.
  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school and membership in good standing with the State Bar of Texas.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of real estate laws, regulations, and industry practices specific to the Houston metropolitan area.
  • Exceptional contract drafting, negotiation, and legal writing skills, with a keen attention to detail.
  • Proven ability to analyze complex legal issues, provide strategic counsel, and develop innovative solutions.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with diverse stakeholders.
