RESTAURANT FACILITIES MAINTENANCE TECHNICIAN

Position & Perks :

The Restaurant Facilities Maintenance Technician with expertise in carpentry, flooring, painting, and general maintenance is responsible for the upkeep, repair, and enhancement of the restaurant's facilities.

This includes performing carpentry work, painting, and general maintenance tasks to ensure a safe, attractive, and efficient environment for staff and customers.

Responsibilities :

• Carpentry Work :
• Repair, maintain, and construct wooden fixtures and furniture, including tables, chairs, cabinets, and shelving.
• Build custom cabinetry, countertops, and other wooden structures as needed.
• Install and repair trim, molding, and other decorative wood elements.
• Perform repairs on walls, ceilings, doors, windows, and flooring.
• Painting :
• Prepare surfaces for painting, including sanding, priming, and patching holes or cracks.
• Apply paint, varnish, stains, and other finishes to interior and exterior surfaces.
• Perform touch-up painting and regular maintenance of painted surfaces to keep them in good condition.
• Ensure proper color matching and application techniques to maintain a uniform and professional appearance.
• Removal and installation of wallpaper.
• General Maintenance :
• Perform preventive maintenance tasks to avoid equipment failures and extend the life of assets.
• Diagnose and troubleshoot issues with various systems and equipment.
• Perform minor repairs on-site and work with external service providers for more complex repairs.
• Safety Compliance :
• Ensure all equipment, structures, and facilities comply with local, state, and federal safety regulations.
• Conduct safety checks and maintain records of inspections and repairs.
• Inventory Management :
• Keep an inventory of maintenance supplies, materials, and tools.
• Order replacement parts and materials as needed.
• Coordination & Supervision :
• Work closely with restaurant management and Facilities Manager to schedule maintenance and repairs with minimal disruption to operations.
• Coordinate and supervise contractors, outside vendors, and other members of the facilities team as required for the completion of various repair and remodel projects.
• Documentation :
• Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, repairs, and inspections.
• Report on maintenance status, equipment performance, and areas needing attention.
• Emergency Response :
• Respond promptly to emergency maintenance requests.
• Troubleshoot and resolve issues quickly to minimize downtime and ensure the safety of staff and customers.
• Maintain company owned vehicle appropriately, ensuring that it is serviced regularly, is clean, neat and well organized
• Use of own tools and equipment required; specialty tools may be purchased with prior authorization and will be maintained as company property

Qualifications :

• Strong knowledge of carpentry techniques, tools, and materials.
• Proficient in surface preparation and painting techniques.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints, technical manuals, and schematics.
• Proficient in the use of hand and power tools.
• Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
• Excellent communication and coordination skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team; Strong interpersonal skills to work with team members and vendors
• Has the knowledge to do the repairs and maintenance on most equipment; knows when to involve peer techs with stronger knowledge in a particular area or when an external vendor is needed
• Makes good decisions based upon a mixture of analysis, wisdom, experience, and judgment
• Is dedicated to meeting the expectations and requirements of internal and external customers while maintaining the highest standards of quality
