Job Title : CrossCategoricalSpecial Education Teacher

PositionOverview : The school is seeking a qualified andpassionate CrossCategorical Special Education Teacher to join ourteam.
The ideal candidate will provide specialized instruction tostudents with varying disabilities in a supportive and inclusiveenvironment.
This role involves developing and implementingindividualized education programs (IEPs) collaborating with generaleducation teachers and support staff and fostering a positivelearning environment that promotes student growth andsuccess.
KeyResponsibilities :
InstructionalSupport :
- Providedifferentiated instruction to meet the diverse needs of studentswith disabilities including those with learning disabilitiesemotional and behavioral disorders autism and other healthimpairments.
- Utilize a variety ofinstructional strategies including direct instruction coteachingand small group interventions to support studentlearning.
- Adapt and modify curriculummaterials to ensure accessibility for all students.
Individualized Education Programs(IEPs) :
- Developimplement and monitor IEPs for students with disabilities ensuringthat goals and objectives are tailored to each student’sneeds.
- Conduct assessments to determineeligibility for special education services and to informinstructional planning.
- Regularly review andupdate IEPs in collaboration with parents general educationteachers and other relevant staff.
Collaboration :
- Work closely with general education teachersto support the inclusion of students with disabilities in thegeneral education classroom.
- Collaborate withrelated service providers such as speechlanguage pathologistsoccupational therapists and school psychologists to delivercomprehensive support to students.
- Communicateregularly with parents and caregivers to provide updates on studentprogress and to involve them in the educational process.
BehaviorManagement :
- Implementpositive behavior interventions and supports (PBIS) to promote asafe and supportive classroom environment.
- Develop and implement behavior intervention plans (BIPs)for students with behavioral challenges in collaboration with theschool’s multidisciplinary team.
- Monitor and document student behavior providing feedbackand support to help students develop appropriate social andemotional skills.
ProfessionalDevelopment :
- Participate in ongoing professional developmentopportunities to stay current with best practices in specialeducation.
- Engage in reflective practice tocontinuously improve instructional strategies and classroommanagement techniques.
Qualifications :
- Bachelor’s or Master’sdegree in Special Education or a related field.
- Valid Illinois Professional Educator License (PEL) with aLearning Behavior Specialist (LBS1) endorsement.
- Experience working with students with a range ofdisabilities preferably in a K12 setting.
- Strong understanding of special education laws includingIDEA and Section 504.
- Excellent communicationcollaboration and organizational skills.
- Ability to work effectively as part of amultidisciplinary team.
Work Schedule :
Fulltime position following the academiccalendar.
