In this role you will mentor and support our clinical team members to protect patients from harm and develop strategies to prevent future harm through process improvement and staff education.

Job Summary and Qualifications
What you will do in this role :
- As a Patient Safety Coordinator Registered Nurse RN you will oversee patient safety activities with the objective of enhancing and promoting patient safety and quality care.
- You will manage and analyze close calls and adverse patient events, conduct educational programs, lead clinical initiatives, and comply with regulatory standards.
- In this role you will collaborate in the annual review / revision of the organization’s Patient Safety Program Plan, with responsibility for operationalizing the program.
- Along with other clinical disciplines medical staff, clinical staff, quality management, infection prevention, and risk management you will participate in patient safety activities and act as a resource, internal consultant, and educator for patient safety issues.
- You will participate in RCA (Root Cause Analysis), FMEA (Failure Mode and Event Analysis), lead investigations for serious adverse events, and make recommendations for improvement.
- When dealing with hospital staff, leadership, co-workers, patients, visitors and other customers, you will maintain cultural and diversity awareness.
What qualifications you will need :
- Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing with a BSN (MSN preferred).
- Current Registered Nurse License in Virginia or Current Multistate Compact License.
- Certified Professional in Patient Safety (CPPS) preferred.
- 4 years of clinical experience in a hospital or healthcare setting.
- Knowledge of CMS, TJC, ISMP, NPSF, Leapfrog, IHI and other patient care related initiatives to improve outcomes.
- Knowledge of regulatory compliance as it relates to patient safety.
