Objective Summary
We seek a talented and experienced GIS Data Analyst to join our team. This role will involve analyzing and interpreting spatial data, creating detailed maps, reports, and dashboards, automating workflows, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to support organizational decision-making processes.
The ideal candidate will have a strong background in Geographic Information Systems (GIS) with expertise in spatial data analysis, data visualization, and SQL database management.
This role will be crucial in enhancing the accuracy and efficiency of utility locating processes, managing spatial data effectively, and supporting our strategic objectives.
Role Responsibilities
- Analyze and interpret spatial data using GIS software such as ArcGIS, QGIS, or Google Earth Engine.
- Create and maintain detailed maps, charts, and dashboards to visualize spatial data effectively.
- Conduct spatial analysis, including proximity analysis, spatial interpolation, and network analysis.
- Manage and optimize GIS databases to ensure accurate and efficient data storage and retrieval.
- Utilize SQL databases to create comprehensive reports, automate data processing tasks, and develop interactive dashboards.
- Develop predictive models to identify high-risk areas and implement proactive mitigation strategies.
- Utilize business intelligence tools like Power BI and Tableau to create and maintain interactive dashboards and reports.
- Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and other stakeholders to integrate GIS analysis into decision-making processes.
- Implement custom automation and development to streamline GIS workflows and improve efficiency.
- Stay updated with emerging GIS technologies and industry trends to enhance skills and application performance continuously.
- Participate in code reviews and contribute to improving GIS standards and best practices.
- Ability to travel up to 10%.
- All other duties as assigned.
Qualifications / Required Skillsets
- A minimum of three years of experience as a GIS Data Analyst is required.
- Proficiency in GIS software such as ArcGIS, QGIS, or Google Earth Engine.
- Experience with database management systems (e.g., PostgreSQL, MySQL) and SQL for data manipulation and retrieval.
- Experience with business intelligence (BI) tools like Power BI and Tableau for creating interactive dashboards and reports.
- Familiarity with programming languages such as Python or R for automation and customization of GIS workflows.
- Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud.
- Experience working in Agile / Scrum environments.
- Experience with mobile development frameworks to integrate GIS data into mobile applications.
- Familiarity with CI / CD pipelines and tools (e.g., Jenkins, Docker, Kubernetes).
- Knowledge of spatial analysis techniques, including proximity analysis, spatial interpolation, and network analysis.
- Strong analytical skills to interpret spatial data and extract actionable insights.
- Excellent problem-solving skills, communication skills (verbal and written), and strong attention to detail.
