Machinist Assembler Location CA, Burbank Department Operations Employment Type Full Time Crane Aerospace & Electronics is seeking a Machinist Assembler in Burbank, CA.

Job Summary :

The Machinist Assembler is responsible for mechanical tasks associated with the production of machined components. Mechanical tasks will incorporate a variety of machine shop processes including but not limited to deburring, machine operation, conventional machining, and mechanical assembly.

Essential Functions :

  • Perform assigned tasks of moderate complexity
  • Select, set up or tear down the appropriate tools, machines, and materials to deburr or machine components to blueprint specifications
  • Set up and operate assigned equipment and machinery
  • Machine parts to specifications using machine tools such as conventional lathes, milling machines, shapers, grinders, or drill press
  • Understand machine TPM and be cognizant of machine performance to detect machine malfunctions and compensate for problems
  • Clean, mark, and inspect components.
  • Measure, examine, and test completed units to detect defects and ensure conformance to specifications, using precision measurement instruments
  • Ability to perform mechanical assembly tasks including but not limited to lee plug installation, Heli coil installation, shrink fit process, utilization of harbor press, torque and sealant application.
  • Communicate with engineering, supervisory, or manufacturing personnel to exchange technical information
  • Observe proper health and safety procedures in handling hazardous chemicals
  • Train and mentor new employees and other team members in new processes, procedures, and Crane tools
  • Notify Team Leader or Supervisor of problems encountered in performing these tasks
  • Participate in cleaning of area and machinery and take part in team meetings for improvement
  • Complete job-related company training courses
  • Maintain and adhere to standard safety protocols and PPE (Personal Protection Equipment)
  • Support Crane Business System (CBS) initiatives including 5S, KPIs, Standard Work, Problem
  • Solving, and other initiatives as they arise
  • Any other task assigned by your supervisor or management

Non-Essential Functions :

  • Maintain conscientious work behaviors including work ethic, safety standards, quality, costs, and On-Time Delivery (OTD)
  • Continuous improvement activities to improve processes

Minimum Qualifications :

Experience : 3+ years of experience working in a manufacturing environment, cross-trained to perform in 3 or more machine shop classifications, such as, deburring, machine operation, conventional machining, and assembly.

Knowledge : Knowledge of various inspection equipment i.e., micrometers, calipers, height gages and comparators; Knowledge of safety procedures and regulations;

Knowledge of Geometric Dimensional Tolerancing; Knowledge of manual tooling; Knowledge of raw materials, production processes, quality control, costs, and other techniques for maximizing the effective manufacture and distribution of goods

Skills / Abilities : Mechanical aptitude. Accurate color vision, near vision, and depth perception and other vision capabilities required;

Manipulative skills, including finger and manual dexterity; Adept hand- eye coordination and arm-hand steadiness; Ability to thoroughly interpret work instructions, production or engineering prints, production planning information and assembly aids.

Ability to work well in a moderate to high paced work environment. Ability to use alternate tooling or work holding devices if required;

Creativity, initiative, and the ability to work independently

Education / Certification : High School diploma or equivalent

Eligibility Requirement : This position requires access to controlled data or information and therefore only US persons will be considered.

Working Conditions :

Working conditions are normal for a manufacturing environment

Manufacturing operations may require the use of safety equipment to include but not limited to : eye safety glasses, gowning, masks, hearing protectors, heel / wrist straps and any other required PPE

May be exposed to unusual environmental conditions such as loud noises, cold temperatures, confined spaces, dust or fumes

Essential duties require frequent reaching above shoulder level, standing, walking, working around moving machinery and manual dexterity for handling small parts

Flexible and willing to work overtime if necessary

  • Standing : 70% *percentage is approximate and may vary depending on work task*
  • Sitting : 30% *percentage is approximate and may vary depending on work task*
  • Lifting (in pounds) : up to 40 pounds*
  • Pushing (in pounds) : up to 40 pounds*
  • Mental / Visual : Use of microscope / borescope and computer*
  • Workspace (line, cube, etc.) : clean bench*
