Waukegan Steel is a structural steel fabricator serving the greater Chicagoland area. Our team has worked on various projects throughout the city including, Soldier Field, the Museum of Contemporary Art, Navy Pier, Willis Tower, Northwestern Welsh-Ryan Arena, Washington / Wabash CTA Platform, Ravinia Festival, and Lincoln Park Zoo.
The Maintenance Mechanic will manage various Peddinghause equipment within the Waukegan Steel Facility. This person will also maintain fabrication equipment, and other pieces of manufacturing equipment throughout the facility.
Duties and Responsibilities :
- Assess and accurately determine causes of equipment failure.
- Preventative maintenance and light repairs of damaged / broken equipment, machines, vehicles
- This includes but is not limited to : Company Vehicles, brake presses, welders, grinders, electrical cords, Peddinghaus Equipment, Saws, Plasma Tables, Overhead Cranes, Forklifts
- Responsible for coordinating installations, repairs, preventative maintenance with the
- Production manager and production coordinator.
- Maintain preventative maintenance schedules
Education and Experience :
- 2+ years of maintenance experience
- Highschool diploma or equivalent required
- Additional education in Electrical, mechanical, or other engineering preferred but not required.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities :
- Safety Conscious
- Strong mechanical knowledge
- Ability to meet with Vendors or Specialists to resolve maintenance issues.
- Ability to meet challenging deadlines following safety, quality and production goals
- Prefers fast paced environment
- Strong organization and communication skills
