VP, Technology and AI Strategy - Remote

Rancho BioSciences is seeking a Vice President, Technology and AI Strategy with leadership abilities to partner with the management team to develop a modern technology enabled data and services business.

The VP Technology will play a lead role ensuring we have the processes and platform in place to enable this strategy, including optimizing and automating processes that underlie Rancho's key work products, building data sets that can be monetized.

Develop and maintain an advanced technology strategy. This will define marketing, resourcing, and product development objectives at the organization level.

Responsibilities

• Lead, develop and manage a team of software engineers, data engineers and scientists
• Provide leadership and guidance to project teams regarding best approaches to implement AI / ML, LLMs and other essential modern technology
• Prepare, review and edit presentations as needed for sales activities, leadership presentations and annual retreats
• Provide expert scientific opinions and work directly with clients
• Develop strategy for Rancho technology stack growth, respond to market / sales trends by forming teams with relevant domain knowledge
• Mentor, coach and counsel team to encourage personal and professional growth
• Effectively communicate with senior management, sales, and technical team at Rancho

Qualifications

• PhD or Master's degree in computer science or business administration with 8+ year work experience in the Life Science industry.
• Deep knowledge of the customer set we serve and domain expertise in our relevant subject areas. The individual should bring a skill set across research, preclinical, clinical, and post-approval / real world that is aligned with our SOM / market potential, and the use cases that we serve.
• A deep understanding of the drug discovery, development, and RWE technology landscape. A key area of focus will be the role of AI will play in transforming the drug discovery, development, and RWE technology value proposition.
• Experience in overseeing technology transformations at similar companies. This will include productivity enhancements driven by AI and related tools, as well as building data products, and products combining data and services to meet customer needs.
• The right demeanor to maintain the culture that made Rancho the successful company it is today, while transforming the company for future growth.
• Recent experience in building data pipelines and deployment pipelines for machine learning models (LLMs experience a plus)
• Recent experience with ML / AI toolkits such as AWS Sagemager (other toolkits like Pytorch, Tensorflow, Keras, MXNet, H20, etc are nice to have).
• Experience with MLOps technologies (Sagemaker, Vertex AI, Kubeflow)
• Experience with cloud solutions (AWS / Azure / GCP), docker
• Problem-solving and decision-making skills

• Customer & delivery focus
• Ability to work effectively with team members and virtual teams from different locations and different cultural backgrounds.
• Experience with clinical, pre-clinical, RWE data.
