Position Information

Job Title : Part-Time Temporary, ELL Management Consultant

Manage the day-to-day operation of evening Urban Campus classes within the College’s non-credit English Language Learner (ELL) program.

Provide ongoing evaluative, instructional, and organizational leadership within the program. This individual will report directly to the ELL Coordinator.

This is a temporary position that is funded through June 30, 2025. The possibility of extending this position beyond that date will be reviewed in the spring semester.

Essential Functions :

  • Provide day-to-day support, leadership, and guidance to the program’s evening Urban Campus instructors.
  • Schedule and staff evening Urban Campus courses each semester.
  • Conduct classroom observations and provide feedback to instructors.
  • Approve instructor timesheets and submit professional development pay requests.
  • Interview candidates and recommend potential instructors for hire in conjunction with ELL Coordinator.
  • Provide onboarding and orientation for new evening Urban Campus instructors.
  • Coordinate and manage registration and testing at assigned sites, organize proctors for events.
  • Finalize and distribute class lists to assigned instructors.
  • Review and collect instructor syllabi for assigned instructors.
  • Ensure instructor compliance with required trainings, certifications and professional development requirements.
  • Represent the program to other departments within the College and external partners.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications :

  • Minimum of two years of experience teaching adult ESL or ELL students.
  • Ability to plan, organize, and manage time.
  • Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain a professional working relationship with a wide variety of individuals coming from diverse backgrounds.
  • Comfort with Microsoft Office, especially Excel and Teams.

Desired Qualifications :

  • Master’s degree in TESOL, TESL, English with a TESL certification / emphasis, Linguistics with a TESL certification / emphasis, Education with a TESL certification / emphasis or related field.
  • Ability to speak a language in addition to English and / or experience living abroad.
  • Experience with ESL / ELL curriculum development.
  • Experience with Banner, TopsPro Enterprise, or other student records database.
  • ESL / ELL program leadership experience.

Work Schedule : This is a part-time, hourly position with a maximum of 1250 hours per academic year. A workload of approximately 20 hours per week is anticipated, though this may increase during registration and testing periods.

Most of this position’s work can be done remotely, though at least one evening per week being physically present on-campus at DMACC Urban Campus is required.

Additional evening hours on-campus can be expected during registration and testing times.
