We are located in the heart of the city, in downtown Indianapolis, near the circle & across the street from our monumental state house.

This position will allow a flexible (hybrid) work arrangement, but will require Indiana state residency. This position is not eligible for H-1B or any other kind of temporary or permanent sponsorship for work authorization by the Indiana Public Retirement System.

Your Impact :

This position plans, organizes, and controls all operations and activities of small to medium size projects, or phases of a larger project.

Projects can be operational in nature and the Associate IT Project Manager may also be responsible for coordinating, facilitating, and supporting operational duties outside of a specific project.

Incumbent receives supervision and guidance of higher-level Project Manager(s) and staff. These projects have small teams.

Guidelines are complex in nature and may require some judgment in making adaptations to fit the conditions of the work. Work is broad in scope and requires consideration of conflicting variables.

Incumbent works under immediate supervision of higher-level staff and receives general instructions for work in support of INPRS requirements.

Work is reviewed for soundness of judgment, accuracy, and compliance with division and INPRS policy.

Essential Duties :

  • Manages small to medium size IT projects that may involve departments / divisions within INPRS and other state or contracted resources for the project;
  • Participate in high level scoping; facilitation of project kickoff;
  • Ensures project requirements, deliverables and approvals are defined;
  • Ensures roles and responsibilities on the project are defined;
  • Creates and maintains project plans, risk and issue logs;
  • Ensures Change Requests are completed as needed;
  • Coordinates and monitors activities of all parties involved in the project to ensure the project is completed on time and within budget;
  • Creates and maintains a team atmosphere and work environment to promote project work productivity;
  • Communicates project status to appropriate management and interested parties;
  • Ensures the delivery of a product that meets specifications;
  • Ensures completion of post-project reviews and related artifacts for potential process improvements;
  • Performs related duties as assigned.

Job Requirements :

  • Ability to lead, encourage, maintain effective working relationships, and influence others to perform;
  • Ability to communicate effectively, orally and in writing;
  • Effective time management and organization skills;
  • Effective problem solving and conflict resolution skills;
  • Basic knowledge of project management theories and practices and the ability to apply that knowledge, including Waterfall & Agile methodologies;
  • Basic knowledge of MS Applications including Project, Excel & Visio;
  • Basic knowledge of CRM applications and projects
  • Basic knowledge of ServiceNow;
  • Basic knowledge of SDLC;
  • Basic knowledge of pension plans;
  • Ability to make independent decisions while upholding INPRS ethical standards.

Experience and Qualifications :

  • Bachelor's Degree
  • CAPM Certification preferred
  • 3+ years of experience in a project management capacity with 1 year managing smaller to mid-size projects that encompass technology functionality areas
