Job Summary

Responsible for supporting Ethics and Compliance CMS Analytics and Reporting. Seeks ways of applying technology to business processes for streamlining.

Provides specialized expertise and guidance on assessing risks, identifying potential gaps and providing solutions to mitigate risks and protect the organization.

Participates in projects of low to moderate complexity and provides reporting, analysis, and assessments at the functional, business line or enterprise level.

Provides reporting to leadership and appropriate governance committees. Responsible for system support and services which include supporting risk assessment processes, and risk and reporting analysis.

Maintains an effective working relationship with software and outsource vendors, tests and coordinates the implementation of new releases or system enhancement installations, identify and correct system related errors, and responds to special customer reporting needs.

Serves as a liaison between Compliance, Information Technology, Line of Business and software vendors. Serves as a back up for peers.

Job Duties and Responsibilities

Coordinates with key risk stakeholders to initiate, scope and plan compliance risk assessments of new and existing regulations, products, and services of all risk levels.

Contributes to maintaining the Ethics and Compliance risk assessments at the compliance risk, product, business process, or overall enterprise level.

Communicates the risk assessment results to internal and external stakeholders. Coordinates with risk stakeholders to identify appropriate risk mitigation and remediation plans.

Performs validation of the risk mitigation and remediation plans upon implementation.

Prepares statistical, financial, productivity and other ad-hoc reports for management and staff review. Works with end users in designing, writing, developing and maintaining relational database reports and outputs.

Leverages technical applications to develop risk reporting, monitor key trends and define metrics to regularly measure control effectiveness for Ethics and Compliance risk while adhering to policies and procedures.

May develop, design, deliver or consults with subject matter experts, to develop alternative technical solutions and provide related systems training;

advise on options, risk, cost versus benefit, and impact on other business processes and system priorities. Analyzes data and creates risk models to support business decisions.

Develops and maintains business relationships within the business unit and IT personnel and managers.

Identifies and implements process improvements, including the creation of standard and ad-hoc reports, tools, and Power BI Dashboards.

Increases productivity by developing automated processes to include reporting and forecasting tools. Recommends actions by analyzing and interpreting data through comparative analyses.

May assist with quantitative analysis needs for the assessment of Fair Lending / Banking risk for the Bank.

May lead conversations and projects as needed. Also, may participate in larger Synovus wide projects as a SME for compliance.

Assists peers with projects as data and risk assessment support as needed.

Supports Fair Lending and UDAAP quantitative risk reviews. Develops financial models to forecast, identify and elevate compliance and ethics risks for the organization.

Supports the reporting and analysis of Complaint Management

  • Maintains up-to-date technical knowledge of data modeling, data analysis, financial reporting and trends. Acts in an advisory capacity, making recommendations which may have important bearing on the way business is conducted within the business unit.
  • Each team member is expected to be aware of risk within their functional area. This includes observing all policies, procedures, laws, regulations and risk limits specific to their role.

Additionally, they should raise and report known or suspected violations to the appropriate Company authority in a timely fashion.

Performs other related duties as required.

Minimum Education :

Bachelors Degree Computer Science, Information Systems, Mathematics, Economics, or a related field or an equivalent combination of education and experience

Minimum Experience :

Two (2) years of data analytics, reporting, data modeling and business systems work experience analyzing and administering departmental or business unit specific software, systems, or reporting platforms OR an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Demonstrated professional growth and achievement in a financial services or similar organization comparable in size. Experience managing mid-level to complex projects.

Proven work experience in a quantitatively-heavy role.

Required Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities :

  • Experience executing risk assessments and risk reporting
  • Statistical analysis and modeling experience
  • Strong analytical and data gathering skills with keen attention to detail
  • Working knowledge of computer program design / applications, work-flow analysis and system program logic
  • Multi-tasking skills and the ability to work in a fast-paced, complex, rapidly changing, environment with competing demands
  • Ability to solve problems independently, quickly, and completely as well as communicate them clearly
  • Ability to effectively adapt to rapidly changing technology and apply it to business needs
  • Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft products and report writing tools such as Power BI
  • Ability to streamline functions and passion to learn and grow

Additional Information

Preferred Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities :

  • Basic knowledge of Power BI, SQL and / or Python or other dashboard and modeling tools
  • Experience with GRC system
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and presentation skills
  • Skill in functioning as both a project coordinator / leader and project member
  • Negotiation skills and the ability to mediate between wants, needs, and deliverables.
