The Service Manager is responsible for managing the service department and the hiring, on-boarding and supervision of the field service technicians.
This position is the main point-of-contact for customer service-related inquiries, requests, and information.
Duties and responsibilities
- Provide quality service to all customers.
- Ensure timely, consistent delivery of services and products purchased by customers.
- Develop, deploy, and oversee training program for service technicians as needed.
- Answer customer emails and phone calls in a timely manner. Provide efficient resolutions to their issues.
- Develop written repair proposals as requested as requested by customers and provide quotes for repairs found during inspections.
- Create required documentation and information job files and coordinate with office staff to maintain good record keeping of all service jobs.
- Visit customers on location to evaluate potential service repairs, inspections, and new equipment in order to develop a quote.
- See that all internal procedures are followed for executing, invoicing and closing jobs.
- Review performance of jobs to determine accuracy of estimating and quoting.
- Monitor levels of overtime hours as well as indirect labor.
- Provide performance reviews of technicians according to company policy.
- Assist field technicians as needed.
Supervisory Responsibilities
This position is responsible for the field service technicians.
Qualifications
Qualifications include :
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in service technician or related field.
- Prior supervisory experience is preferred.
- Ability to lead others and effectively handle multiple projects simultaneously.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills required.
- Effective computer skills required.
Working conditions
Work is normally performed in a typical interior / office work environment, although some field and / or shop work may be required periodically.
Physical requirements
Occasional field work when required to support field technicians working with hand and power tools as necessary. May also involve working at heights and some heavy lifting.
