Responsibilities

Deliver professional nursing care in the operative setting to patients undergoing surgical or other invasive procedures.

• Perform scrub functions including the selection and handling of instruments and supplies used during procedure.
• Perform circulating functions including monitoring, recording and communicating patient condition and managing overall nursing care of patient before, during and after procedure.
• Directly assist operating physician with surgical tasks including hemostasis, suturing and wound exposure as well as patient positioning.
• Prepare operating rooms and surgical instruments and equipment for use.

Requirements

Licensure / Certification / Registration :

• Registered Nurse credentialed from the Indiana Board of Nursing obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date required.
• One or more of the following required :
• Advanced Life Support obtained within 6 Months (180 days) of hire date or job transfer date. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.
• BLS Provider obtained within 1 Month (30 days) of hire date or job transfer date. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.

Education :

Diploma from an accredited school / college of nursing OR required professional licensure at time of hire.

If you enjoy working in a collaborative & fast paced environment where you can put your critical thinking skills to use, this is the position for you! This 24 / 7 PACU provides care for adult and pediatric patient populations with a wide variety of surgeries.

• Provide direct care for the Ortho patients in PRE-OP and POST-OP
• Support and Educate patients and families procedure and plan of care Evaluate patient responses to treatments and interventions Monitor, record, and communicate with patient conditions as appropriate throughout the PACU recovery
• Excellent multi-tasking skills & communication skills
• 2 years of experience in Acute Care PACU facility, ER, or Critical
• Prefer Level 1 Trauma Center or Stroke Center hospital experience
• Have BLS, ACLS, PALS, and NIHSS
• Average of 50-60 patients per day very busy unit
• Prefer Adult and / or Pediatric PACU experience in an acute care setting
• Prefer orthopedic nursing background
• Prefer experience with all three phases of perioperative nursing
• Ortho experience is a plus, but not required
• No setting up of the Operation Room (OR)

Ascension St. Vincent is located at 2001 W. 86th Street, Indianapolis, IN 46260 is hiring Full-Time, (2) 12-hour shifts per week, Monday - Friday, Day Shift - 6 : 30AM 7 : 00PM.

No scheduled weekends or holidays, but participation in on-call for weekends & holidays is required.
