VP OF PALLIATIVE CARE

Addus Homecare is searching for a Vice President of Palliative Care . This is a key leadership role responsible for the strategic direction, operational management, and quality outcomes of the palliative care services offered across our organization.

This individual will lead Executive Directors who oversee multidisciplinary teams, ensuring the highest standards of care are met and that the services provided align with the companys mission and values.

The VP will work closely with senior leadership, clinical teams, and external partners to expand and enhance our palliative care programs nationwide.

What you will Do :

  • Develop and implement strategic initiatives to expand palliative care services nationally.
  • Identify opportunities for growth and innovation within palliative care services, ensuring alignment with the companys overall goals.
  • Collaborate with senior leadership to integrate palliative care and supportive services with the broader hospice and healthcare offerings.
  • Oversee Palliative Care Executive Directors to ensure the day-to-day operations of the palliative care services, ensuring efficient and effective service delivery.
  • Manage budgets, resources, and staffing to optimize care delivery and maintain financial sustainability.
  • Ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements and accreditation standards related to palliative care.
  • Establish and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) for palliative care services, focusing on patient outcomes, satisfaction, and quality of care.
  • Monitors productivity and ensure documentation accuracy in the EMR.
  • Lead quality improvement initiatives, using data-driven approaches to enhance service delivery and patient experiences.
  • Foster a culture of continuous improvement and excellence within the palliative care team.
  • Recruit, mentor, and develop a high-performing multidisciplinary team, including executive directors, physicians, nurse practitioners, social workers, and other healthcare professionals.
  • Promote a collaborative and supportive work environment that encourages professional growth and development.
  • Provide leadership and guidance to regional directors and clinical teams, ensuring consistency and quality across all locations.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with healthcare providers, payers, and community organizations to enhance service integration and patient referrals.
  • Represent the company in external forums, advocating for palliative care and supportive services and contributing to industry discussions.
  • Collaborate with marketing and business development teams to promote and grow palliative care services.
  • Lead efforts to educate internal and external stakeholders about the value and importance of palliative care.
  • Advocate for palliative care at local, state, and national levels, influencing policy and regulations that impact service delivery.
  • This position may require travel up to 20-30% of the time to various locations nationwide. The role may also involve working flexible hours to meet the needs of the company and its clients.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Masters degree in healthcare administration, nursing, medicine, or a related field. A clinical background in palliative care, hospice, or a related specialty is strongly preferred.
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in a leadership role within palliative care, hospice, or a related healthcare field.
  • Proven track record of developing and leading successful palliative care programs on a regional or national scale.
  • Strong operational, financial, and strategic planning skills.
  • Excellent leadership and team management abilities.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with a wide range of stakeholders.
  • High level of business acumen, with the ability to balance clinical excellence with financial sustainability.
  • Knowledge of current trends, regulations, and best practices in palliative care.
  • Must be a licensed driver with an automobile that is insured in accordance with state and / or organization requirements and is in good working order.
