Controls Technician - Manufacturing - Base Salary to 75k / year - Howell, MI
- Our client, a family-owned company with a history spanning over 100 years, has recently experienced growth through expansion and is seeking a Controls Technician to join their growing organization.
- The Controls Technician will handle maintenance and repairs, troubleshoot control systems, ensure equipment functionality, and implement improvements while maintaining records and adhering to safety standards.
Responsibilities :
- Conduct preventative maintenance inspections, calibrations, and routine diagnostic checks on automated systems.
- Program, debug, and troubleshoot PLC ladder logic.
- Monitor automated equipment during production to ensure it operates within specified parameters.
- Perform root cause analysis on failed components.
- Identify, plan, and execute process improvement projects.
- Install, maintain, and repair production and packaging equipment.
- Read and interpret schematics, electrical drawings, and engineering instructions for installation, troubleshooting, and repair.
- Repair or replace electrical, mechanical, pneumatic, and steam components as needed.
- Collaborate with co-workers and operators to identify and resolve machinery issues promptly.
- Adhere to safety protocols and conduct daily safety checks on equipment.
- Work on machinery rebuild projects as needed.
- Record maintenance activities, preventative maintenance, and part usage in a computerized maintenance management system (CMMS).
- Comply with OSHA requirements, including electrical safety, machine guarding, and lockout / tagout procedures.
- Follow and enforce GMP practices.
Qualifications :
- Knowledge of PLCs and Human Machine Interfaces (HMI).
- Solid understanding of electrical systems.
- Proficient with mechanical systems.
- Skilled in using computer systems, including MS Office and CMMS.
- Familiar with preventative maintenance programs and systems.
- Experience with Allen Bradley systems is preferred.
- 2 or 4-year degree from a technical school is preferred.
