The Senior Accountant, Income Tax prepares income tax compliance and provisions for Brother International Corporation and its subsidiaries.
This position assists the Income Tax Manager in developing a positive forward thinking tax team. The Senior Accountant, Income Tax challenges the status quo while fostering relationships with internal and external stakeholders to minimize tax liabilities and optimize tax positions.
This position ensures proper record keeping, develops best practices and procedures, ensures accurate and timely filing of income and franchise tax returns, estimated payments, and annual report filings.
WHAT YOU’LL DO
Prepare Income Tax and Franchise Tax Returns
- Compile information in support of US Federal and State income tax filings, verifying compliance with local and state regulations for filing
- Prepare the completion of state franchise tax returns
- Compile information, analysis and preparation of workpapers to support income and franchise tax calculation
- Identify improvements in work procedures as needed and provide recommendations to Tax Manager for support and implementation
Prepare Estimated Income and Franchise Tax Payments
- Compile information and calculate the estimated tax payments based on forecast and actual data from the books and records from the company
- Prepare wire / check request forms and initiate ACH debits with states for tax payment
- Prepare journal entries to record state tax payments to appropriate general ledger accounts
- Ensure the estimated payments are made on a timely basis
Other Financial Duties
- Gather information to calculate and prepare domestic quarterly tax provisions and review foreign quarterly tax revisions
- Gather information for the Advance Pricing Agreement
- Prepare and file annual reports
- Assist in federal and state audits
- Maintain accurate and organized tax records and documentation
- Conduct tax research on tax issues and transactions
ABOUT OUR IDEAL CANDIDATE
Education
Bachelor's Degree (or equivalent experience) Accounting or Finance Required
Experience
Minimum 5 years Consolidated federal tax return preparation, multi-state preparation, federal and state tax audit exposure Required
Software / Technical Skills
- MS Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint) Advanced Required
- Technical knowledge and understanding of U.S Taxation of foreign source income (international tax) Basic Required
- CorpTax compliance software Intermediate Preferred
- SAP tax module Basic Preferred

ADDITIONAL DETAILS FOR THIS ROLE
This role will be a hybrid role. Subject to business needs, employees may work remotely up to two days per week. Assigned office days will be determined by managers. #LI-Hybrid
- The salary (or hiring) range for this position is $95,000 - $110,000 per year.
- Starting salary to be determined by the education, experience, knowledge, skills and abilities of the applicant, internal equity, location, and alignment with market data.
- This position is eligible to participate in the relevant Brother variable pay incentive plan(s). Applicable bonus awards are discretionary and contingent upon 1) achievement of your individual objectives and 2) Brother achieving its corporate and business-level objectives.
