THE OPPORTUNITY :
Executes activities related to the District's student population including coordinating the school’s admissions program, implementing and monitoring the school’s attendance procedures and overseeing and coordinating the work of the guidance department, Student Activities office, College Transfer office and other student support service offices
Responsibilities
- Coordinating the school’s admissions program
- Implementing and monitoring the school’s attendance procedures
- Overseeing and coordinating the work of the guidance department, Student Activities office, College Transfer office and other student support service offices
- Meet regularly with the other school administrators
- Teach one class each semester
- Coordinate BHSEC’s admissions program
- Supervise the BHSEC Fellow for Admissions
- Direct Student Support
- Oversee the implementation of the Guidelines for Community Conduct highlighted in the student handbook
- Makes appropriate referral to support personnel, i.e. guidance, discipline, administration
- Serve on attendance committee to monitor and review school-wide attendance
- Help implement and monitor school-wide attendance procedures
- Ensure that phone calls are made to homes of students who miss three or more days of school
- Follow-up with the families of those students who have patterns of absences or who have emotional / physical problems that interfere with the student’s ability to attend school
- Coordinate attendance monitoring with guidance counselors, advisors, and district attendance officers
- Coordinate the college transfer process for students
- Counsel caseload of students
- Conduct weekly meetings with college advisees
- Attend national and local college admissions forums and conferences
- Help facilitate college information sessions for parents
- Consult with college admissions counselors on behalf of students
- Work with college advisors at the other BHSEC campuses to review and enhance college advising services and resources
- Meet monthly with the security team to discuss student safety concerns
- Facilitate weekly Student Concerns meeting with the school counselor and social workers
- Teach one class each semester
- All other ad hoc responsibilities as delegated by the Principal / Head of School
Qualifications
- Master's Degree in a liberal arts and sciences discipline (corresponding to the fields available for study within the Bard curriculum)
- At least five years teaching and / or student support experience, preferably with both college and high school students
- Strong interpersonal and organizational skills
- Strong written and oral communication skills
- Experience with and commitment to working with adolescents
Working Conditions / Physical Demands
- Expected moving, walking and standing consistent with an office environment and occasionally lifting up to 15 pounds

and reach with hands and arms
- The employee is frequently required to talk and / or hear.
- Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus

- Local travel may be required for training / meetings
