Superintendent

POSITION : SUPERINTENDENT REPORTS TO : PROJECT MANAGER PURPOSE : The purpose of this position is to organize and direct work groups to specific scheduled tasks for a specific job safely, professionally and at the lowest feasible cost to the company. TASKS & DUTIES :

• Maintain a clean, efficient, and organized work area
• Maintain a positive and professional personal appearance
• Maintain all daily job files in good order to track jobs, costs, progress
• Assist Project Manager with progress reports, look-ahead and subcontractor scheduling
• Verify schedules and priorities for accuracy to optimize profitability and efficiency of services
• Establish daily goals to be achieved by work groups
• Make sure trades people and helpers understand and meet or exceed daily goals
• Prepare time sheets completely and accurately and submit to office
• Verify appropriate materials and supplies are on site to achieve daily goals
• Perform tasks of trade as needed to compliment available personnel and requirements of job
• Monitor job progress, referring to plans, specifications, submittals and shop drawings to ensure accurate and timely completion
• Maintain quality level of work sufficient to meet specifications; verify functionality of systems as job progresses
• Adhere to and enforce safety rules and regulations concerning working conditions and employee’s activities
• Assist coworkers as needed including training, problem-solving and discipline within the scope of time and skill available
• Maintain contact with Project Manager to verify job progress
• Monitor upkeep, security and maintenance of company and rental tools and equipment
• Provide feedback to Project Manager on opportunities for expanded or improved work or service
• Perform any other duty or assignment as may be assigned from time to time, in accordance with labor regulations and safety rules

PERFORMANCE MEASUREMENTS :

• Customer satisfaction is high as evidenced by timely completion of projects and minimal complaints
• Safety rules and policies are followed and accident / injury rate is low
• Project Manager is briefed regularly on daily and weekly performance levels
• Completed daily reports include time worked and materials used, plus any problems, delays or difficulties
• Work quality is excellent; projects enhance the profitability of the company and its image in the community
• Work schedule is maintained and honored; changes are documented with change orders or extra work authorization signed by customer representative
• Work areas, vehicles and job sites are kept clean, well-stocked and secure; company materials and tools are protected and respected to enhance efficient and cost-effective operation
• Initiative demonstrated in meeting schedules within labor and material budgets and in building a positive company image;

employees show high productivity, quality and morale

• Reports to work punctually; prepared for work at hand with equipment and material, as an example to others
• Personal work schedule changes are minimal; change notice is adequate to allow management to assess and approve, edit if necessary, disapprove if not acceptable for company operation
• Maintain cooperative working relationships with all coworkers, subcontractors and other groups at work sites
• Skill level and knowledge provide leadership and excellent management of time and materials for efficient job completion
• Uses personal knowledge and technical skill to build skills and efficiency in other employees and improve operations

EMPLOYMENT REQUIREMENTS :

• High school graduate or equivalent require; post-secondary training as plumber, pipe fitter or welder
• Five years field experience in commercial or industrial plumbing and piping
• Basic reading and math skills mandatory
• Ability to read plans, blue prints and construction drawings and to match field work
• Have and maintain State of Georgia Journeyman Plumbing License, if plumber
• Ability to recognize good and poor work
• Read, write and communicate in English
• Ability to remain calm in high-pressure situations
• Full range use of arms, legs and hands, including mobility to walk, crawl, stoop, climb, stretch and reach
• Moderate frequent lifting (up to 50 pounds)
• Use of all bodily senses including hearing and vision, with color perception
• Spatial orientation and mechanical skill
• Ability to train and manage other skilled personnel in a timely and cost effective manner
• Ability to plan work schedule, including material use, equipment requirements
• Pass law enforcement background check for felony convictions
• Pass all controlled substance testing required by company policy
