Position Summary
The Director of Clinical Services' primary role will be to manage and support the clinical care sites with the assistance of the Vice President of Nursing.
The Director of Clinical Services will be responsible for supervising the clinic nursing care and ensuring consistencies in the standard of practice across clinical settings.
In addition, the Director of Clinical Services will provide Quality Management / Quality Improvement, Risk Management, and Utilization Review as needed.
Reportability
This position will report directly to the Vice President of Nursing. This position will manage / supervise a team of clinic nurse managers, the Director of WIC as well as other teams as assigned.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
Collaborates with Vice President of Nursing to develop the nursing teams to support the clinical activities at Mary's Center.
Assures staff participation in departmental and Organizational Nursing Structures.
- Works with the Vice President of Nursing and interfaces with practice leadership to coordinate the optimal allocation of staff, clinical efficiency and quality, and optimal productivity standards.
- Directs personnel actions related to areas of responsibility including, but not limited to hiring, performance management, staff development, disciplinary action, termination, etc.
Oversees recruitment and performance management for nursing managers and their teams,
- Supervises the Director of WIC and supports them in program management, as needed.
- Assists with the development and implementation of Patient-Centered Medical Home training for nursing / clinical staff.
- Collaborates with a multidisciplinary team with the implementation of annual emergency training and emergency preparedness training.
- Oversees daily clinical operations through direct reporting of clinic managers.
- Supports clinic managers as needed.
- Provides leadership to teams to develop, execute and monitor QA / QI programming.
- Guide Managers and / or Directors to lead their team and establish outcomes in coordination with overall organizational goals.
- Participates in grant writing and budget development for programs related to clinical services.
- Coordinates with Outcomes and Quality Manager to produce reports as needed to meet organizational outcomes and clinical standards of care.
- Maintains survey / grant compliance that pertains to clinical operations, including the development of reports.
- Coordinates the resource needs for areas of responsibility, including assisting in annual budget preparation, reviewing and approving budgetary recommendations, and analyzing variances of budgeted revenues and expenses for areas of responsibility.
- Assists with Risk Management implementation as needed.
- Assists with the development and implemenation of clinical and organizational policies and procedures.
- Develops and oversees policies, procedures, and protocols pertaining to clinical services department.
- Fosters good working relationships and integration with other departments within the organization.
- Develops and communicates vision for care delivery models and facilitates ongoing refinement of such models.
- Ensures safe environment of care for all staff, participants, and families.
- Ensures compliance with regulatory agencies, staff competence, and licensure and continuing education requirements.
- Serves on committees as designated by the Vice President of Nursing.
- Assists in the planning of new health services in different jurisdictions partnering with the Vice President of Nursing and other staff to bring services to Mary's Center.
- Assists the Vice President of Nursing with production of reports requested by the President / CEO and other vice presidents, directors, and managers.
- In collaboration with others in administrative leadership, develops strategic and operational plan for clinical areas. Communicates plans and continuously evaluates plans.
- Serves on committees and task forces to address participant and community health issues and represents the needs and goals of Mary's Center on external committees.
- Acts as a community liaison and advocate for Mary's Center providing information, expert testimony, and collaboration with other organizations on a regular basis.
- Perform other related duties incidental to the work described herein.
Qualifications

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities -
- Requires BSN degree (MSN and / or MPH preferred) and must be licensed to practice nursing in the District of Columbia and Maryland.
- A minimum of five (5) years of experience in a combination of nursing and operational leadership / management skills.
- Must have clinical management knowledge, data analysis, conflict resolution, and good writing skills.
- Advanced skills in MS Excel and excellent presentation and communication skills are essential.
Language Requirement - Ability to communicate effectively in English is required. Additional language proficiency or fluency in Spanish a plus.
Physical Demands - Regularly required to sit; frequently required to reach with hands and arms, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch, talk or hear;
must be able to lift objects up to twenty-five (25) pounds.
Work Environment - Mostly in a typical office and / or home setting with quiet to moderate noise level. May be exposed to extreme cold, heat, and humidity due to outside weather conditions.
