Summary :
Provides leadership, management and operational oversightto the Medical Staff Services department. The director workscollaboratively with the Regional Chief Medical Officer and MedicalStaff Leaders to plan, organize, direct and coordinate the programsand activities of the Medical Staff and ensure that the strategiesof the Medical Staff are supported and attained, goals and plansare realized and there is adherence to the requirements ofregulatory and accreditation bodies that are relevant to theorganized Medical Staff.
Key administrative departmentalrelationships include Administration and Quality ManagementDepartment.
Responsibilities :
- Works 1 : 1 with credentialing specialists toaddress concerns and document issues with initial and reappointmentapplications.
- Provides 100% audit on initialand recredentialing applications.
- Additionalresponsibility is to monitor reappointments to assure none go over24 months, per TJC standards and / or 36 months, per NCQAstandards.
- In Directors absence, this positionprovides expertise and works collaboratively with the IT Dept. onthe following issues : e-prescribe, 340-B Program, system access formedical staff (CSARs) and medical record suspensionsupport.
Requirements :
- Bachelor's Degree in Healthcare relatedfield
- CPMSM certification by the NationalAssociation of Medical Staff Servicesrequired.
- Knowledge of Joint Commission, CMSand other laws / regulations highly preferred.
- Five years comprehensive experience as Medical ServicesProfessional within a hospital setting.
- Managerial experience required.
- Must haveworking knowledge of Medical Staff Credentialing concepts andcomprehensive knowledge base of state / federal regulatoryrequirements and accreditation standards related to the organizedmedical staff.
