SUMMARY : \n\nUnder the supervision of the Clinical Manager, oversees the nursing unit during assigned hours. Performs all duties of Charge Nurse. Performs all essential functions with consideration of the patients' age and developmental specific needs. Directs and monitors the daily activities in the assigned nursing department to ensure standards of patient care are met. Plans, delegates, and directs comprehensive nursing care by assigning, instructing, and leading a team of professional and / or ancillary staff. Serves as clinical and professional resource. Responsible for providing care to patients. Contributes to the performance evaluations of assigned units.\nCollaborates with nurse leaders and staff to ensure that Bradley Hospital nursing achieves nursing, Bradley Hospital and Brown University Health strategic plan goals (i.e. Joint Commission compliance, Magnet designation, etc.).\nDemonstrates flexibility and innovation to facilitate the changes required to improve operations, enhance revenue, effectiveness, productivity, collaboration, responsiveness, and other quality / safety metrics.\nCommunicates effectively with patients, providers, families, leaders, and other healthcare teams.\nPerforms the duties of Staff Nurse.\nMaintains quality assurance, safety, environmental, and infection control standards, in accordance with established hospital department policies, procedures, and objectives.\nMaintains required Hospital certifications.\nMaintains required Program certifications.\nAttends a minimum of 6 Program meetings per year.\nAttends a minimum of 3 non-mandatory in-services per year.\nMaintains current CPR certification.\nMaintains current Safety Care certification.\nMaintains current ERS certification\nPerforms other related duties, as required.\nBASIC KNOWLEDGE : \nGraduatefrom a school of nursing and licensed to practice as a Registered Nurse in the State of Rhode Island. BSN and certification in area of specialty preferred National certification in Psychiatric Mental Health Nursing is required within 12 months of hire to this position if not already certified.\nCurrent BLS certification. Minimum of 2 to 3 years nursing experience in assigned area. Demonstrated leadership skills.\nResponsible for maintaining a current knowledge of contemporary Professional Nursing practice within the legal framework of the Nurse Practice Act.\nDemonstrated knowledge and skills necessary to provide care to patients throughout the life span, with consideration of aging processes, human development stages, and cultural patterns in each step of the care process.\n\nMINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS : \n\nEXPERIENCE : \nMinimum of 2 to 3 years nursing experience in assigned area. Demonstrated leadership skills. Must be able to demonstrate competence to participate in interdisciplinary formulation of individual plans of care and to direct, monitor, and evaluate the nursing care furnished. Works with medical equipment and has direct patient contact. Any potential hazards are minimized by adherence to established safety procedures and precautions including use of safety equipment and protective clothing. Must be able to sit, stand, squat / kneel for 1-3 hours per day, walk 3-7 hours per day, lift over 50 lbs. with good mechanics, twist / bend infrequently. Must be able to use both hands / wrists and perform work that deviates from neutral position and be able to perform fine motor skills. Must have accurate near and far vision 20 / 20, depth perception and discriminate among colors.\nSUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY : \nFunctional supervision of employees.
