Summary description :
The Production Supervisor oversees hourly personnel in production departments. They are responsible for scheduling, assigning, and ensuring completion of daily work assignments to meet the needs of internal and external customers.
This position coordinates the use of departmental employees and equipment to maximize the efficiency and effectiveness of the department’s production activities, with a focus on minimizing waste, variability, and costs to deliver maximum value to our customers.
The Production Supervisor is responsible for assuring that all company policies and the Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA) are followed.

Key Outcomes
- Manufactures glass to specification as quickly, efficiently and cost effectively as possible, meeting all internal / external customer requirements to ship on time and in-spec.
- Proactively communicates information to Sales ensuring customer expectations are aligned with production schedules.
- Establishes and promotes a culture of plant safety through an effective Plant Emergency Management System (PEMS), department-specific safety training for employees, prompt reporting of injuries and near misses, collaboration with HR and the safety committee on the investigation of all workplace injuries and illnesses and establishing accountability for employee adherence with safety procedures and PPE requirements.
- In conjunction with Operations Management, builds an agile hourly workforce; continuously develops and retains highly skilled, cross-trained employees who excel at producing our most difficult products.'
Essential Job Functions :
Supervises hourly employees in production departments and ensures that all company policies and the Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA) are followed;
Holds personnel accountable for doing their jobs effectively and to the best of their ability.
- Responsible for creating and effectively managing a detailed employee schedule that prioritizes and organizes daily work assignments in order to meet the needs of internal and external customers.
- Assigns monitors, and reviews work completion; Ensures accuracy of employee time stamps; Performs daily balancing for direct reports.
- Ensures that production standards and work instructions aligned with the organization’s Quality Management System (QMS) are adhered to by team members.
- In collaboration with Operations Management, creates effective cross-training plans to close gaps for new and existing employees to establish redundancies.
- Requisitions required materials and supplies to provide efficient operations and to maintain proper inventories on hand.
- Leverages daily, weekly, and monthly reporting metrics to measure key indicators of performance (labor productivity, efficiency, time and attendance, quality, etc.
to provide impactful feedback to department employees.
- Provides meaningful feedback and recognizes employees through formal programs to acknowledge efforts; provides coaching and / or corrective action where necessary to improve performance.
- Proactively flows both positive and negative information up and down the organization and encourages growth mindset / environment.
- Works with the Human Resources department to ensure that complete and accurate records are kept with respect to attendance, disciplinary action, accident reports, etc.
- Works closely with Manager / HR to proactively resolve worker grievances in accordance with the Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA).
- Takes initiative to learn new conditions and prepares subordinates to adapt to change, such as the implementation of new equipment, software, or introduction of new products.
- Strives to maintain a high level of cooperation among all employees by providing leadership and a positive attitude / working environment;
Responsible for maintaining order and cleanliness of production areas.
- Supports the continuous improvement of manufacturing activities through the development of new techniques, or helping to specify, design and fabricate new equipment, tools, fixtures, and test equipment, as applicable.
- Maintains a safe and healthy workplace which is compliant with all OSHA and other local, state, and federal regulatory standards including but not limited to : Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), Material Handling and Storage, Hazardous Materials, Lockout / Tagout, Powered Industrial Trucks, Machine Guarding, Respiratory Protection, Hearing Protection, and all other applicable requirements under OSHA’s General Industry standards.
- Provides back-up support to other Production Supervisors and Operations Management when absent.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications :
- Education : Associate’s degree required. Bachelor’s degree or equivalent education from a technical school preferred in related field preferred.
- 5+ years of Supervisory experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment; experience in a unionized environment preferred but not required.
- Ability to occasionally work rotating shifts - including extended workdays, weekends, and holidays, if required.
- Basic Microsoft Office skills including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Basic understanding of ISO 9001 : 2015 standard preferred but not required.
Physical Requirements
- Sit Less than 10% of the workday.
- Stand Approximately 90% of the workday.
- Push / Pull Must be able to push and pull boxed items using pallet jacks and flatbed hand trucks which require up to 70 lbs.

- Ability to lift a maximum weight of 50 lbs.; ability to perform team lifts, as needed.
- Must be able to withstand hot, cold, and wet conditions in the work environment.

Pay : $70,000.00 - $85,000.00 per year
