Junior CNO Reverse Engineers (CRE1) at Nightwing perform reverse engineering of hardware components, software applications, and operating systems to determine functionality, code structure, and circuit design for use in the design and development of software tools.
Reverse engineers are expected to document and deliver reports, proofs-of-concept code demonstrating their findings, and hands-on demonstrations.
All our engineers write code, but many of our engineers spend as much time taking systems apart as building new ones. A typical day can involve studying disassembly or writing Python to audit a piece of C++ code.
Basic Qualifications
- Typically requires a Bachelor's degree in the field of computer science, information systems, or network engineering and five (5) years' experience to include 2 (two) years' experience with reverse engineering.
- Experience with C or C++, Python.
- Use of Reverse engineering tools such as IDA Pro, Ghidra, Binary Ninja.
- Active and transferable U.S. government issued TS / SCI with polygraph security clearance is required prior to start date.
- U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.
Desired Skills : 3 or more of the following desired skills
- Understanding of OS Internals (i.e. Windows, Linux, Android).
- Experience with Vulnerability Research.
- Experience reading or writing assembly (x86, x64, ARM, PPC, MIPS, SPARC, 68k, or others).
- Experience developing embedded systems.
- Understanding of network protocols (TCP / IP stacks, wire-level protocols, RF communications, BGP, routing protocols, or others).
- Understanding of exploit mitigations such as DEP and ASLR.
- Experience using debuggers such as gdb, WinDbg, OllyDbg.
- Experience with BDI / JTAG.
- Experience with modern C++ development, such as RAII, C++11 and C++14.
- Experience building and using tools to find, exploit, and productize vulnerabilities in complex software systems.
- Experience with technical leadership.

Salary Range : 70,000 USD - 142,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels.
