After School Teaching roles are 10-month positions, which are not exempt and therefore eligible for overtime pay under the provisions of the Fair Labor Standards Act.

Capital City is looking for talented teachers for our after school program, serving students in PK-6th grade. After School Teachers will work 20 hours per week according to the following schedule : 3 : 00-6 : 00 p.

m. on M, T, Th, F; 1 : 00-6 : 00 p.m. on Wednesday. There will also be an additional hour of planning time 1x per week.

The responsibilities of an After School Teacher include :

Planning and leading activities for students in small and large groups during recreational and activity times.

Supervising and supporting students with homework completion.

Implementing a social curriculum and discipline approach consistent with the school day program (CCPCS uses the Responsive Classroom model).

Clear and professional communication with parents, teachers and school staff to insure collaboration.

Attending and actively engaging in scheduled planning time.

After School teachers will typically work with one age group in classes with an average ratio of 1 adult : 10 students. The position provides aspiring teachers with the opportunity to develop teaching and leadership skills while learning from experienced teachers.

We seek to fill positions as soon as possible. C.A.F.E teachers will begin training upon start date.

Capital City seeks to employ experienced teachers.

Minimum requirements : a high school diploma and experience supervising and teaching elementary age students.

Candidates should enjoy working with children, have strong classroom management skills, and be strong team players. Experience working in diverse and inclusive settings is desired.

Spanish speakers are desired.

In addition to the above requirements, teachers must meet the requirements of all hires at Capital City including a criminal background check and a negative TB test.
