Position Summary & Location

We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Distribution Center Supervisor to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing day-to-day operations in the distribution center, focusing on leadership, coaching, and staff development to ensure adherence to processes, safety standards, quality control, effective communication, cost management, and productivity targets.

This position works on-site full-time from Des Plaines, IL.

Primary Responsibilities Include

Leadership and Coaching :

• Provide strong leadership to the distribution center team, fostering a culture of accountability, teamwork, and continuous improvement.
• Coach and mentor team members to enhance their skills and capabilities, promoting professional growth and development.
• Lead by example, demonstrating a strong work ethic, positive attitude, and commitment to excellence.

Process Adherence :

• Ensure that all distribution center processes and procedures are followed consistently, with a focus on efficiency, accuracy, and compliance.
• Identify opportunities for process optimization and implement changes to streamline operations and improve productivity.
• Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) to track process performance and make data-driven decisions to drive operational excellence.

Safety and Quality Control :

• Champion a culture of safety awareness and adherence to safety protocols and regulations throughout the distribution center.
• Conduct regular safety inspections and audits, addressing any hazards or concerns promptly to mitigate risks and prevent accidents.
• Maintain high standards of quality control, ensuring that all products meet established quality standards and customer specifications.

Effective Communication :

• Facilitate clear and open communication channels between management, team members, and other departments, ensuring alignment of goals and objectives.
• Act as a liaison between frontline staff and upper management, conveying feedback, concerns, and suggestions to drive continuous improvement.
• Foster a collaborative and inclusive work environment where ideas are valued, and feedback is encouraged.

Cost Management :

• Optimize resources and control costs within the distribution center, including labor, inventory, and equipment, to achieve budgetary goals.
• Identify opportunities for cost-saving initiatives and implement strategies to improve efficiency without compromising quality or safety.
• Monitor expenses and variances, implementing corrective actions as needed to ensure financial targets are met.

Productivity Enhancement :

• Drive productivity improvements by setting clear performance expectations, monitoring productivity metrics, and implementing performance improvement plans as necessary.
• Develop and implement training programs to enhance the skills and knowledge of team members, ensuring they are equipped to perform their roles effectively.
• Encourage innovation and continuous learning within the team to stay abreast of industry trends and best practices.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in business administration, Logistics, Supply Chain Management, or a related field preferred.
• Proven experience in a leadership role within a distribution center or warehouse environment.
• Strong understanding of distribution center operations, including processes, safety regulations, quality control, and inventory management.
• Excellent leadership, coaching, and communication skills, with the ability to motivate and inspire a diverse team.
• Proficiency in data analysis and use of warehouse management systems (WMS) or similar software.
• Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and adapt to changing priorities.
• Commitment to upholding high standards of integrity, professionalism, and customer service.
