Higher Scientific Officer - Structural Biology of Cell Signalling

Salary Range : £37,050 - £45,732 per annum

Salary : Commencement on the salary range is subject to comparable skills and experience. Future progression is based on annual performance review.

Duration of Contract : Fixed term contract for three years with possibility of extension

Hours per week : 35 hours per week (Full Time)

Under the leadership of Prof. Sebastian Guettler, we are seeking to appoint a Higher Scientific Officer to join the Structural Biology of Cell Signalling Team to investigate the molecular mechanisms of Wnt / beta-catenin signalling and telomere maintenance by in vitro approaches, with a particular focus on the regulation by ADP-ribosylation through tankyrase.

The role consists of 70% research and 30% laboratory management responsibilities.

Key Requirements

The successful candidate must have skills and experience in biochemistry, biophysics, and / or structural biology, either X-ray crystallography or cryo-electron microscopy, to biological questions.

The available projects will offer a stimulating balance of independence and collaboration. A large part of the work will be centred on understanding tankyrase regulation and modulation by small molecules.
