Established by the Georgetown University College of Arts & Sciences in 1967, the is an intellectually diverse community of scholars engaged in research addressing both basic psychological processes and social issues.

Job Overview

The research conducted by Department of Psychology's Stress, Health, and Development Lab examines how stressful experiences influence physical health and disease risk across the lifespan.

Current directions of the lab include understanding the pathways through which early experiences of stress contribute to disease risk in adulthood, with a particular focus on the role of the immune system.

We are seeking an experienced and dedicated Phlebotomist to join our team in an .

The Phlebotomist has duties that include but are not limited to collecting fasting blood samples from pediatric research participants, ensuring their comfort and safety, and accurately labeling and storing the specimens for analysis.

Phlebotomist duties require morning weekday and weekend availability - between the hours of 8 a.m. and 12 p.m. - and flexibility in scheduling to meet the needs of our research participants.

Hours range from 0 to 14 for any given week.

Work Interactions and Work Mode Designation

Closely supervised by the Principal Investigator (PI), the Phlebotomist works with lab members - including graduate students, undergraduate research assistants, and staff - and with research participants from the Georgetown University community and greater DC area.

Requirements and Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalency
  • Completion of an accredited phlebotomy training program
  • Current certification as a phlebotomist
  • Proven experience as a phlebotomist with pediatric patients in clinical and / or research settings
  • Knowledge of venipuncture and capillary puncture techniques
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Ability to establish rapport with children and adolescents
  • Strong attention to detail and organization
  • Proficiency in maintaining patient confidentiality and adhering to privacy regulations
  • Flexibility to work - - in an on-demand, part-time basis, including early mornings and weekends

Pay Range :

The projected salary or hourly pay range for this position which represents the full range of anticipated compensation is :

$17.41 - $26.03

Compensation is determined by a number of factors including, but not limited to, the candidate’s individual qualifications, experience, education, skills, and certifications, as well as the University’s business needs and external factors.
