We are seeking a remote California Workers' Compensation Claim Supervisor who will oversee a team of six adjusters, specializing in CA jurisdiction only.

This role requires a Self-Insurance Plans (SIP) certification or an equivalent designation for experienced claims adjusters, along with 3-5 years of prior supervisory experience.

The supervisor will manage claims across various industries, including staffing, construction, and trucking.

The primary responsibility of the Workers' Compensation Claim Supervisor is to investigate, adjust, and supervise assigned claims, ensuring adherence to CCMSI’s Corporate Claim Standards.

This role also serves as an advanced training position with potential for promotion to management. The supervisor is accountable for the quality of claim services as perceived by CCMSI clients, maintaining high standards and consistent performance.

Additional duties include mentoring team members, providing guidance on complex claims, and ensuring compliance with all relevant regulations and best practices.

Responsibilities

  • Review, assign and provide supervision of all claim activity for designated claims to ensure compliance with Corporate Claim Standards, client specific handling instructions and in accordance with applicable laws.
  • Investigate, evaluate and adjust assigned claims in accordance with established claim handling standards and laws.
  • Reserve establishment and / or oversight of reserves for designated claims within established reserve authority levels.
  • Provide oversight of medical, legal, damage estimates and miscellaneous invoices to determine if reasonable and related to designated claims.

Negotiate any disputed bills or invoices for resolution.

  • Authorize and make payments of claims in accordance with claim procedures utilizing a claim payment program in accordance with industry standards and within established payment authority.
  • Negotiate settlements in accordance within Corporate Claim Standards, client specific handling instructions and state laws, when appropriate.
  • Assist designated claim staff in the selection, referral and supervision of designated claim files sent to outside vendors.

  • Direct handling of designated litigated and complex claims.
  • Provide education, training and assist in the development of claim staff.
  • Review and maintain personal diary on claim system.
  • Supervision of all claim activity for specified accounts.
  • Compliance with Corporate Claim Handling Standards and special client handling instructions as established.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Education and / or Experience

10 + years California Workers' Compensaion claim experience is required.

Three years supervisory experience is preferred.

Computer Skills

Proficient in Microsoft Office products such as Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations

California SIP is required.

AIC, CPCU, or ARM preferred
