Description
The Administrative Nurse 1 - Charge Nurse is responsible for assisting with clinical management and administrative coordination of the procedural and / or surgical unit.
The position is a combination of clinical (direct care) and administrative responsibilities. Major functions include, but are not limited to :
- in-service and training, clinical competence assessment, coaching, mentoring, and collaborating with the unit manager to develop and implement policy and procedure.
- supervising and leading a team of nurses and other healthcare professionals in a GI / MPU and / or ASC (Ambulatory Surgery Center) unit
- ensuring compliance with UCLA Health policies and procedures, as well as regulatory guidelines
- knowledge of sterile processing / scope reprocessing standards to meet regulatory requirements is required
- independently coordinating and prioritizing tasks by using protocols established by the department, as well as the policies and procedures established by UCLA Health
- must be willing to travel between Endo MPU sites Salary Range : $140,021 - $203,434 Annual Qualifications
- BSN or MSN
- Current CA RN License
- BLS from AHA or ARC
- ACLS from AHA
- 2 years of recent acute care experience
- Ability to communicate with other staff to obtain and provide information
- Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with peers and other co-workers
- Ability to accept shift changes to meet the department’s needs
- Skill in setting priorities, recognizing emergencies and taking appropriate action based on experiences or according to instruction from the nurse in charge
- Skill in performing independently and following through on assignment with minimal direction and supervision
- Ability in performing repetitive work according to set procedures, sequence, and pace
- Ability to respond to emergency calls, in case of a disaster, and to follow instructions.
- Ability to lift heavy objects (gurneys, carts, linen bags), push or pull heavy carts a minimum of 50 pounds.
- Handle surgical equipment carefully and safely, and stand for long periods of time
- Ability to learn new procedures and improve existing skills by participating in various types of training courses. Ability to train / in-service staff with newly acquired skills and / or education.
- Working knowledge of use, function, and operation of procedure room equipment, instrumentation, and furniture
- Working knowledge of procedure room sanitation
- Ability to clean procedural rooms / space according to regulatory guidelines
- Working knowledge of aseptic technique
- Ability to float and support procedural and / or surgical units within the community as assigned
